    Genuine question

He struggled in the last few rounds with CBjr in a very close fight, and well outboxed Lemiux who has beaten nobody of note and now is being talked being Britains best middle weight ever, and an opponent of GGG

I still think he has unfinished business with CBjr first, and if does get to beat GGG then obviously all the talk is genuine. Is it just based on the outboxing of Lemiux that has propelled him into this.

Unfinished business with CEJ, did you watch CEJ last fight?? You do know BJS signed to fight CEJ another 2 times and CEJ would not sign for the re-match!!

I kinda agree with the OP tbh on that point. I personally scored it 6-6 the second time I watched the fight and one round in Billy Joe’s favour the first time round. Regardless of the reasons why a rematch never happened, it’s fair to say that a rematch is warranted.

Nothing really to do with it, about CE jr last fight with Groves, Groves is also a world class boxer. if you go on about last fights having anything to do with it, I thought Tyson was going to Kill Holyfield based on his last 4 fights 2 losses and supposed heart trouble.

NOthing against BJS at all i like him and I think he an excellent boxer, but I was just asking why people are now rating him so highly than they did before and calling him one of Britains best ever after beating Lemiux, I just don't see it at all, when he struggled alomost lost against Eubank jr

I would love to see a return and shame BJS has pulled out of the Murray fight, but if he is injured then fair enough

CEJ will never beat anyone that can box as he only boxes one way, cant box on the back foot and has no jab, Adam Booth was one of the people that advised against the re-match against BJS has he would not beat him and he was training CEJ at the time, so I will go with him, the fight was close last time due to fitness and stamina, skill level they are worlds apart and BJS seems to have sorted or improved the physical side.......so exactly how would CEJ win.

Well, BJS was underrated for a period. He showed how much better a boxer he was than CEJ; CEJ's late run was more to do with fitness than anything else, as was evidenced in the rest of BJS' career. BJS appears to be sharper now and looks a real threat, but I do think he is now overrated a little off the back of beating Lemieux.

Lemieux is very good at what he does. If you stand and trade, you're going to have a bad time. If you're able to box and move as BJS is able to, then you'll beat him more or less every time. So long as you keep Lemieux at range, you're likely to avoid his power shots and that's all he really has. An excellent performance by BJS, no doubt, but one he ought to be doing as a world champion. That has since elevated people into picking him in 'schooling' (not just winning) GGG and the rest of the division.

He will struggle to get big fights though because he is so utterly unreliable. Murray was cancelled after an initial delay if I recall. Akavov was postponed. The Khurtsidze fight wasn't his fault, mind you. I feel like there has been other occasions of this with Saunders which I'm sure others will remind me of.

BJS is absolute class in the ring...think he’s an absolute **** outside of it. I would love to see him in again against Junior but Junior won’t go near him and rightly so, he wouldn’t win a round. It was a terrible attitude coupled with being unfit that made that fight look competitive, there are a number of levels of skill that separate them.

The schooling dished out to Lemieux who was very highly rated before that defeat exemplified his skill set. Another fighter who I have high regard for who’s having somewhat of a renaissance over in America (Spike) got completely schooled by BJS. Worth another watch.

If you appreciate elite level boxing skills, then BJS is your man. GGG nor Canelo will touch him with a barge pole and I don’t blame them.

I for one dont like the fella, first and foremost he's a Pikey. However he's hilarious and I genuinely believe he could give GGG, Charlo Brothers and Jacobs a run for thier money

I think BJS is very underated and could be very close to elite level if he screwed the head and lived the life of a boxer.

absolutely no need for a CEJ rematch, he already beat him 8-4, 7-5 at best for CEJ, and CEJ quite simply, can't beat pure boxers, never will be able to. as far as BJS being overrated is concerned, i think he has been SLIGHTLY overrated since the Lemiuex win, but i don't begrudge him that as he was so underrated for a time, i mean, he beat CEJ handily and then had to put up with "CEJ would batter him in a rematch/he got lucky/CEJ was robbed" for years after

I wouldn't say he's overrated. I think most boxing fans rate him as one of the best middleweights currently, which he is IMO. Haven't seen anybody say he's the best British middleweight of all time either.

This. I would say apart from Joshua at heavyweight, he’s the only genuine elite level boxer we have from the U.K, but I accept that he’s yet to truly prove that with a recognised huge win...but then again the GGG’s and Canelo’s won’t go near him. I wouldn’t even put the Charlo’s in the same league, i’d even expect Junior to beat Jermall. We have to bear in mind he holds the only other world title belt...apart from Jacobs, I don’t see anyone (world class) wanting the fight.

BJS is absolutely the real deal.
Absolutely belongs among the elite at middleweight. Unfortunately for Bill the rest of the elite know that too, and as not a huge draw he’s definitely in the who needs him club.
I think the big fights for him are at SMW against GG, JDG, CS, as I don’t see GGG or Canelo wanting anything to do with him while they can make mega money against each other.
