Not so. Hence why Shaw sued him. If he had fought Khan, he would have still been free in July. He did sign a deal to fight Alexander which meant he had to stay until July.
Didn't they have the fight scheduled a month or so after his contract ended.. And this after he came off the biggest win of his career he was looking for a better promoter..
http://espn.go.com/boxing/story/_/id/6788333/timothy-bradley-jr-sued-promoters-contract-breach This article best explains it I think
$$$$$$$$ He can lose to pac first and then still fight Khan. He cant loose to Khan and still fight pac
Some sort of contract dispute.. I don't think they got the fight before his contract was up. He was done, and said he felt under appreciated...
Well the fight was after his contract ended to begin with... So that in itself is an extension... Shaw may have said he was free but who really knows, after all hes a promoter... He had a date that he had to set two fights including the Alexander fight.. He couldn't even get that right..
What a load of nonsense. To say Timmy chose to fight Pac instead of Khan, he would have to have fought Pac in the slot that he supposed to fight Khan. But did that happen? No. Pac was off fighting JMM and trying to secure a fight with Cotto. Bradley, during that period, was sitting on his butt inactive and settling for a shot Casamayor. Therefore, he chose to avoid Khan to remain safe and undefeated first and foremost. This THEN gave him the hope (that's all it ****in was - hope) he could fight Pac 12-18 months later. Never was he definitely guaranteed to get Pac IMMEDIATELY after refusing Khan. This is evident in the fact that Pac was trying to secure Cotton above everyone else, before having to settle for second-best Bradley. And is that the kind of **** we're gonna' condone? Just because you've got a chance of landing a major payday a year or two down the line, you're allowed to sit idle and avoid the fights the fans want so you can remain undefeated? Imagine if the roles were reversed, and Khan did that. To secure Mayweather, he ducked Bradley, remained inactive, and feasted on **** opponents. Would you all be giving him a pass, saying it was a good business decision, and that he chose to fight Mayweather INSTEAD of Bradley? Of course not. (excuse typos. On phone)
Oh, and to those that are saying that Bradley was to be forced into a contract extension with Shaw if he was to fight Khan, that's not true. Bradley had promised Shaw one last fight (Khan). That's all Shaw wanted from him. He could have beat Khan, be free to join Top Rank, beat on Casamayor in November, and still be in the exact same position he is in today. But like I said, he chose not to do that because it was the harder path, and there was a higher risk of losing.
deal Just about covers it.I had Bradley on my **** list but he's played his hand superbly here. All of a sudden Amir Khan becomes a paragon of virtue? He hasn't fought an elite fighter yet,far less beaten one.We still don't know how good Maidana will turn out to be.I've no problem with Khan getting himself into a position where he was a vast majority purse share fighter, but for the same reasons as you can't knock Khan, you can't knock Bradley for following a plan and achieving his objective.
I'm not sure why losing to Khan would have meant Bradley wouldn't have got a shot at either Mayweather or Khan either, looking at who both fighters have fought recently and what competition is out there for future fights.
