Why did Calzaghe wait ten year before coming to the US to fight its best fighters?

Was it Warren's promoting or Calzaghe just wanting easy paydays? I find it a little ridiculous that you wait ten years before you face the best in the sport when they are years past their prime (44 and 40 respectively). That's like giving Terry Norris credit for taking out Leonard. The Kessler win was solid though.

from 1997 to 2006 american top fighters did not call out calzaghe.

lacy was the only one i remember although sheika and calzaghe had a war of words.

vanderpool called him out repeatedly, although he was canadian.

at the same time neither beyer or ottke ever called him out.

Bit of both I think. Warrens methods are well known and Calzaghe kept sticking with him year after year. Personally i don't think Calzaghe really believed in himself for a long time and thats why he accepted Warren. He's only found real belief and hunger in the last few years - before that boxing was just his job.

Exactly! Most fighters with that kind of record would be chomping at the bit to go after the big names as soon as possible

    Better late than never though:D

hopkins and kessler were decent wins i picked them both to win lacy was overrated by retarted americans i picked calzaghe to win and the jones win isnt at all impressive only way the beating jones would have been impressive was if it was a spectacular knockout which even if it happend you can argue its not that impressive because its happend before

Simply put, he waited 10 years because America's "best" fighters weren't old/shot ten years ago. Calzhaghe is a cherrypicker.

Americans were in England during D day, you are too stupid to just admit you made a mistake.
