Why did Canelo choose Mungia over Benavidez?

Canelo isn't going to fight guys like Benavides or Morrell. One, bc he's smart. Secondly, he will never be forced to fight them. He's the money champ. He'll probably finish his career fighting the smaller Crawford (lose) then retire. Until then I see bunch of meh fights for him, or decent guys moving up in weight to fight him.

 

Triple G was not in his prime in those fights.

 

Only way I see Canelo getting stopped by Benavidez is the ref stepping in while Benavidez flurries on a gassed Canelo.

Don't think Benavidez can hurt Canelo.

 

As far as the topic is concerned, I believe Benavidez will present many problems for Canelo. Canelo is a smart fighter and chose to fight Mungia instead to avoid those potential problems.

 

My personal thoughts on Canelo Ive shared many times. From the day Mayweather " retired" & Canelo took over the mantle as Vegas cash cow he stopped being a FIGHTER!!!!. He became the prodigal son like Floyd was. He was allowed to do exactly as he liked, fight whoever he liked, knowing the Vegas judges would protect him he became a DIVA. As long as he fought in Vegas he knew all he had to do was be standing at the final bell & he would not be allowed to lose . The state commission obviously turned a blind eye to all this. During this time he really robbed GGG TWICE, blatantly. he also lost several fights but was protected.
What happened now was he took on Dmitry Bivol who he thought was no danger to him & the story was he couldn't punch WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!! Bivol beat the bejabbers out of Canelo totally made him look like a journeyman .Even the Vegas mafia couldn't stretch it that far to give him a "draw" like they did GGG 1.
That embarrassment for the man who called himself The KING OF BOXING!!!! & no one could ever beat him ROFLMAO took his soul. His testes shrunk . So he thinks Jaime Munguia will be an easy fight for him & he can keep ducking the 3 B's . Bivol again, Benavidez & Beterbiev. He may have underestimated Jaime too & I wish him luck & he just might do a "bivol" on him
Anyone that calls himself King of Boxing should be prepared to fight his legitimate contenders without fear or retire !!!!!!!! His choice, either choice will suit me. Just my personal opinion
