If it was the plan all along to go back to 154...then why the hell would he drag Khan up to Middleweight? Why didn't Canelo drop that extra pound and make it slightly less of a farce? I hate to say it but it's little things like this that make him look bad.

Many of the things he and Oscar are saying and doing lately are either contradictory, vague or counter productive.

Because Khan was an idiot who agreed to it. He could have easily have said no, that's too much!(1 extra pound:biggrin:) But he didn't, blame Khan.

He was defending his WBC 160 belt and got one voluntary defence as part of the deal with the WBC and K2. And in order to bill it for the Middleweight Championship of the World and surrounding planets, with also the lineal and GBP belts on the line it had to be above 154.
And there's always that little pesky thing of the trouble little Canelito has to make 154.

All in all pretty straight forward.

No matter what you think or say about Khan, one thing is clear; Khan is a Prize fighter who wants the biggest prize. So, it's no wonder he signed up to take a risk.
Golovkin SHOULD have done the same, but he is a side show attraction and NOT a prize fighter.

because they both wanted to be able to eat nicely going into the fight. 1lb is 3500 calories thats like 6 big macs!

Yeah it's because he had the WBC belt at that time which was won from Martinez and then from Cotto at 155 which is technically middleweight,it was dumb from Khan and if you ask me all Canelos opponents except Mayweather have been dumb in not asking for a hydration clause,Mayweather is much to smart and had Canelo at his least affective, don't get me wrong if everyone could do what Canelo does they would but they can't and so at a huge disadvantage when facing someone so much heavier.
Like Thurman said though 155 is the dumbest catchweight ever as you're given a pound leeway anyway.

Id heard that GBP offered Khan the fight at 154 but he wanted 155 so he could fight for Canelo,s belt. That made sense to me really. The real question which ive not got a reasonable answer to was Why did Canelo fight Khan at all.
