    "The Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr. vs. Alfredo Angulo bout, originally scheduled to appear on the December 1 SHOWTIME BOXING: SPECIAL EDITION® telecast, is off because Chavez’s father, Julio, Sr., and his team didn’t believe Chavez Jr. was ready to return to the ring. Chavez, Jr. will return at some time in the future. Angulo will still appear in a bout on the undercard."

    Both punching bags, but Julio would have enjoyed a weight/size advantage.

    Because he’s probably way overweight, or smoking weed, or just not training at all. So senior is trying to save the Chavez name by not letting his son disgrace himself and the family any further.

    Junior needs to retire and get fat that’s what he seems to enjoy doing the most so go and be happy.

    Jr has probably put in zero training. Thinking he can just come of the couch and make a fight out of it. Angulo has been training for a fight. Even this version of Angulo would KO him.

    Like most already responded, he probably wasn't in shape and possibly wouldn't even make the weight without resorting to illegal substances again.
    The add-up of him actually having a chance of losing that fight, looking bad and/or not making weight or getting busted for diuretics or something simular (I can already envision Sulaiman; "JCC Jr has always been clean!"), probably was too much for senior to let him go through with it.

    He still has to make weight, something he has struggled with for a long time now. It doesn't matter who he is fighting.
