Why did Chris Eubank step up to Cruiser to fight Thompson?

He said Roy Jones didn't want to fight him and didn't fancy a Calzaghe rematch or going to Germany again (for Michalczewski). So he asked Frank Warren about the possibility of fighting Carl Thompson, expecting a favour considering he stepped in to save a world title fight on the big Sheffield show. Warren then pulled the strings and lined his pockets, while Eubank got his eye closed and went to hospital.
