Margarito knocked Cintron out and made him cry in the 5th.

Mayweather knocked Hatton out in the 10th. According to some the only reason the fight didn't go the distance is because of bad reffing.

However, when Margarito knocks Cintron out again he's a great warrior, but Mayweather mentioning he might rematch Hatton is met with derision. Please explain.

I could see from a million miles away that Cintron would be blown away again.

In terms of the Hatton Mayweather rematch, Cortez was the reason the fight didn't go the distance, but not the reason why Mayweather won. To suggest that would be utterly stupid.

If Floyd could make 140 I would be interested, but at 147 Hatton is just too small.

Welter to him is what Middle was to Oscar.

That's exactly it, Cintron had a title whereas Hatton hasn't fought yet.

Floyd could easily make 140 but it would not make the least bit of difference. he is the same exact guy at 140. Hell he could dehydrate to 140 for the weigh in and be right back up to 147 for the fight.

As far as the original thread question. There was public demand for margarito vs Cintron, Nobody wants to see Floyd vs Hatton but floyd would be trying to shove it down our throats just to get paid.

I say let Hatton get the rematch. He's still going to lose. But, to compare the two scenerios is not accurate.

1-After losing, Cintron fought several times before getting the rematch, KOing all his opponents. This was not close to being an immediate rematch
2-Along those lines, there was some thought that perhaps Cintron had improved enough under Steward to beat Margarito.
3-Margarito had lost a belt and Cintron had gained one. Tony was looking to get a belt back.
4-Neither fighter had a fight the fans and media were begging for in the way they are begging for Mayweather-Cotto.

Neither Margarito or Cintron had as many options as Mayweather now has.

Cintron was the guy who had been on the losing end first time round; he also had picked up a belt since then, and he, in hindsight, stupidly went looking for Margo. He had also shown some signs of improvement since the first fight (of course this didn't help him in the rematch). The odds were pretty even for the rematch, unlike what they would be for Floyd-Hatton II.

Mayweather can pick and choose his fights. I have nothing against him going for a DLH rematch (close enough first fight), and if Hatton sparks Paulie M (I don't count a win against Laz as anything special) and another name fighter, and looks good doing it, then he could rematch him.

Truth is, like most people, I wanna see him in with Cotto at some stage.

Exactly. Hell, even if Cotto was set to rematch Gomez the idiots will cheer for it.

I think Mayweather would be the same at 140 as he was at 147, but Hatton would be totally different.

Mayweather would still probably (80%) prevail, but the fight would be a much closer affair, as Hatton would be more suited to 140.

The two scenario's are totally different anyway.

Cintron knows that deep inside he didnt want to get in the ring again with Margarito and I think he wanted to prove to himself that he wasnt scare of Margarito. But once he was on his way to the ring for the rematch, you could see how terrified of Margarito he really was.

A rematch between Hatton and PBF would be the exact same thing as their first fight and a waste of time to US the fans. Hatton needs to fight dudes who are going to make the fights exciting, you know go toe to toe vs him....

J.R. and Montero said it best. The situations really aren't similar.

    Double-standards, no doubt.
