Those of us with sense knew exactly what would happen. Cleverly could've just hid in wales for a decade like Calslappy and milked his paper title. He would've had a LOT more money, and certainly an army of delusional fanboys attesting to his greatness.

All he would have to do is fight a few old legends and call it a day.

THIS fight is the reason Calslappy never stepped up.

THIS is what happens when you are a sloppy "ultra volume puncher" with sloppy technique and you take on a challenge.

Another brit hype job has been exposed. Tyson Fury is next maybe?

:huh:huh:huh:huhUmmmmm...who again did Slappy hide from????

And to his credit....Nate has been calling out every big fighter in the division.

This fight only proves he was serious.

He's the #5 LHW in the world right now, and he just happened to the walk into the brick wall who is #1.:think

Took on a challenge. Speaking from a boxing fan's perspective, that's a good thing in my books.

I agree, I'm just surprised he didn't take the easy route like Slappy.

Don' worry, Frank would have had a nice pay off to sacrifice his fighter and the belt, thats why this fight happened

Not a smart decision. I wonder what was his promoter thinking...

Indeed, props to Clev for taking the fight, it didn't seem that F wank was the one that wanted the fight but Clev himself. Likely he was feeling stung by the criticism of his resume, but the fact is, if he ever wanted to move into the big time, he was gonna have to step up at some point. In part I suspect there was a considerable underestimation of just how dangerous Kovalev is, but regardless, Clev is only 26 and certainly not out of the game, so long as he copes with the loss mentally.

????? the russian was his manditory challenger. HBO money + a guy you'll have to fight anyways = challenge accepted.

Plus he was actually doing okey before he tried to open up in the third round. Showed some inexperience there but he actually had a good game plan and probably believed he had a real chance at winning the fight.

Indeed. I have more respect for his resume after this loss than I did before.

Because he believes in himself. Hopefully he continues to, he's still a world-level fighter.

Everyone who talked on and on about how Cleverly is the best LHW in the world or would beat Kovalev, YES, you are officially stupid.

there's only so long you can hang on to a title before someone good comes along. the guy thought he could knock out kovalev what he didn't understand was he didn't have the ammunition for that to happen, you need big bullets.
