whats the reason behind this it seems a bit crazy to me to drop one of the great trainers to have lived and take up a fairly new guy to the pro ranks
anybody know why he did this?

Good question, I wondered this. I always got the impression that Cotto like to be in charge of his own camp

I think he said Steward didn't spend enough time training him personally, spent most of his time with Klitschko.

scheduling conflict. Stewards priority will always be Wlad.

Could be, Cotto is just another face inside a very crowded stable when he quit.

So he could work with this Cuban professor, who does equations to optimize Cotto's work out.

Serioulsy from listening to him, he sounds smart and intresting. We will see what he can bring to Miguel.

I heard Cotto didn't like some of the stuff that Steward was teaching him. Like fighting taller and clinching. Which would've helped Cotto enormously against Margarito imo.

Steward isn't a guy who can be around to train you a lot.

Also i don't think Manny really believed Cotto could beat Margarito. Maybe that's the impression Miguel got too.

Yeah, playing Cleveland in Family Guy must be pretty time consuming

Horrible move by Cotto.. Steward would have come up with a smart gameplan to beat Margo. I'm not sure what this cuban guy brings to the table but I would say Margo has the advantage when it comes to trainers.

    This gets my vote.

Though I think being aggressive against Margo might be the right move. Show him no respect. It might throw him off his gameplan.

(not to mention, his un-loaded gloves may not pack much of a threat. We shall see.)

the cuban trainer does look interesting in some of the stuff hes using to get him ready for the fight but iv seen no tech work a part of boxing steward is perfect for and i dont think cotto can be too agressive against margarito we know margarito will go all night and w eknow cotto hs always had stanima issues and isnt willing to die in the ring to make that tactic work for 12 rounds

Because Cotto wanted to train in Miami so he could be around his coke and undisipline. Steward told him its bad idea and Cotto will be distracted. Come fight night it will show when Cotta gets beat again.

I can't be botherd to digup the articles but both Cotto and Steward have said in interviews that it was due to scheduling conflicts.
Wlad simply gets priority over anyone else and Cotto needed someone full time.

Both said that outside of that they enjoyed the working relationship.
