why did cotto take the fight?

    cotto for me could beat all the welters except margarito who has a style thats all wrong for him so it begs the question why did he take that fight? he didn't get huge sums of money and got beat up and the only winners were marga's and arum, it seems some boxers just do what their promoters say and don't look after their interests, he would've got the same amount of money fighting berto or clottey, kept his 0 and increased his stock.

    Because Margo was the fight put in front of him so he took it. I don't think that Cotto is one to dodge or be afraid of the man standing across from him.

    i fink cotto has a good chance of beating margo if he trains very hard for a rematch. he should go for a UD and improve that stamina by 50%

    IMHO......Taking this fight was the tip of the iceberg in creating the friction between Cotto and his uncle. I dont think his uncle wanted him to take the fight right now. I get that sense from hearing his uncle talk before and after the fight. Its like he wasnt really sure about the outcome.

    Because he wanted to fight the best, if he ducked Margarito everybody would be moaning. For **** sake, how ****ing fickle!!!

    Maybe he loses those fights too. And then you would have a different title saying he should have fought Margo instead because Margo would have been easier to hit.

    Because he had no choice. Any of you guys wonder why this fight took place in July? Cotto fights every June on the eve of the PR parade, but not this year. The reason or this was because he was chasing after a Hoya fight and too much time had passed by when Hoya finally said he wasn't going to fight him. So instead of fighting in March and June or in May against Hoya, he fought in April and July. There were no other big fights out there for him and his promoter was hell bent on getting this fight made. Berto would not have taken a fight with Cotto, and a Clottey fight would not have been as big. It wouldn't have even been on ppv. There was no way in hell he would've fought Williams. The Margo fight was the only one left. Regardless, props to Cotto for taking on such a tough assignment.

    Why wouldnt he have taken it would be a much better and well impossible question to answer as there is no good or logical answer why not.

    Cotto is the terminator, he will be back and he's not looking for Sean Conner.......
