Why did dethroned, 17 month older, inactive, away Wlad at 41 do so much better against AJ than Fury?

Fury used more movement than AJ and landed far less punches, AJ simply took more risks so was easier to hit and gassed.

Fury is harder to hit cleanly to the head and more unpredictable than Joshua. Wlad was also having some serious domestic issues around the Fury fight so that may have taken some of his focus and energy.

I think Wlad was just overwhelmed when he first fought Fury, he didn't expect Fury to fight the way he did.

Wlad said in the 2nd fight "he was just gonna let his hands go", and I think if he had done, he may still have lost but it would have been a better fight.

Who knew that getting KOed, is somehow fairing better than a boring eyesore of a decision?

    Idiotic post

Style and Motivation, Wladimir wasn't used to fight a guy as big and felxible as Fury. Wladimir was already 40 years old and he looked already bad before vs Jennings. He looked good vs Pulev because Pulev fought stupid. Leapai was a journeyman.

Joshua's style was easier for Wladimir. Prime Klitschko of 2008-2013 would have stopped Joshua

In Fury fight Wlad looked unfocused and lethargic. Maybe he thought he would get a UD anyway.

Has to be styles . Fury with much better ring IQ than Joshua simply did not allow Wlad to get to him. Joshua being far more predictable allowed Wlad to get to him constantly. As for Wlad under estimating Fury and also not being motivated when they fought is laughable. The fact that Wlad had gone to the trouble of fitting extra illegal padding to the ring floor that was rightly removed says different. Fury beat Wlad with movement and IQ and was never behind and never in trouble, whereas Joshua ! People say Wlad will regret not letting his hands go against Fury but he simply got out foxed,it was not pretty to watch but it was effective. Wlad will be kicking himself more for not going after Joshua when he dropped him,Joshua could not even throw punches for multiple rounds. Wlad let Joshua off the hook and Joshua to his credit recovered and came back and stopped Wlad in a more exiting fight .

Joke is old, just stop LOL. Anyway Fury is going to get KO'd if he fights Aj, he's overrated. I've been saying it for years. Klitschko didn't have the heart or the ability to drag him into a dogfight, the bodybuilder does and the bodybuilder will. You'll see(if Fury even fights him, he probably won't)

Vlad hated Fury and wanted to destroy him. He was highly motivated. If you want to see unmotivated Vlad look at 25 year old shaggy haired mid-life crisis kill or be killed Vlad.

Joshua fans want you to believe that an older, dethroned, inactive Vlad is somehow a better win for AJ than the reigning champ that Fury beat. It's a ridiculous idea that the fanboys will attempt to echo into reality. Vlad did much better against Joshua because Joshua is a basic fighter who an ATG, even at 41, was able to rather easily outbox. There are levels to this sport. Joshua just isn't what people desperately want him to be, or he wouldn't have been beat up and made to quit by fatazz Andy Ruiz.

It’s not a ‘you’ll see’ because I think it’ll be close. Lots of factors at play but I think Fury is only a slight favourite. If he loses I wouldn’t be that surprised.

Indeed. The motivation excuse is bizarre to me, regardless of his Hollywood girlfriend's antics. Wlad absolutely hated Fury's insolence and wanted to teach him a lesson, he also conceded that Fury moved well and had a height, reach, weight and youth advantage while being hungry to win, so he knew Fury was very dangerous. He must have also been aware that his old trainer Manny Steward said that Fury was Wlad's biggest threat and the next dominant HW champ. Wlad was also closing in on Joe Louis' record; his consistency on that 10 year reign is proof that Wlad was the most motivated and focused HW champion of all time.

This is some of what Wlad's biggest fanboy had to say about Wlad-Fury in his last post on another boxing forum:

"Wlad (since Emanuel) has always had this approach. Wlad throws punches only if the opponent is in position. As soon as the opponent has an awkward style like Haye, Ibragimov, Thompson, Chambers, Jennings and now Fury, Wlad refuses to throw. Usually Wlad is so dominant that 1) the few punches he waits for to throw are enough to KO his opponents 2) he wins every round even without KOing his opponents.

This typical strategy, however, failed against Fury and it had nothing to do with "Wlad being shot". It had something to do with the fact that Fury's style annihilates Wlad's "wait-until-the-opponent-is-in-position", because Fury is never in position."

I don't think Wlad was particularly good for the first 4.5 rounds against 27.5 year old AJ but 17 months of inactivity at 41 will do that to you and he still managed to outbox AJ for most of the fight and could have easily stopped him if not for his naivety and cautiousness. AJ was gassed, badly hurt and his legs and reflexes had gone but Wlad didn't jump on him and instead gave him 5.5 rounds to recover. We saw something similar against the much smaller and less powerful Eddie Chambers: Wlad could have ended the fight much earlier but waited until the final few seconds of the 12th lol.

Wlad is basically a slightly better version of a robotic AJ. Wlad has a better jab and is stronger & more comfortable in the clinch. But overall both are kind of robotic and crude. Both relying a lot on the big right hand. And both were incredible athletes. But there is a gap in skills between guys like AJ or Wlad and guys like Fury or Usyk. There are levels and and Heavyweight Boxing is one of the few divisions where a lack of skills can be compensated with athleticism, size and power. But there are levels to this game and we all saw what Usyk did to AJ.

Fury is literally a bigger, taller and slicker version of Usyk (not necessarily a better version tho).

Styles make fights and both Usyk and Fury are horrific matchups for AJ/Wlad.

To be fair..Wlad did OK against AJ until he gassed out.
