because Mosley landed the more punishing punches. He hurt DLH more than once. Compubox fooled alot of people. Come on with the EPO crap. DLH got his ass waxed.
It took Mosley half the fight just to get into the fight. He came on strong at the end but it was a clear victory for DLH, maybe even clearer than the Tito fight.
What a disapointment this fight was,it was so bad that i never watched it again but i remember thinking that Mosley won the fight even though for me they bot deserved to lose after that ****.
I've gone back and watched it recently, very good fight actually, but for a long time I thought it sucked. What I was surprised at 1) DLH sweeping so many rounds (when in doubt during closer rounds I just gave them to Mosley out of kindheartedness, DLH still wins) 2) I didn't remember DLH being hurt but he was visibly hurt at the end of the fight 3) The last round was almost as good as the last round in first fight, both fighters showing great accounts of themselves
De La Hoya won more rounds but Shane did more damage. It's strange because often times when people complain about a decision it's the other way around, meaning one guy did more damage but lost because of rounds and the other did less but put the rounds away. I had it 115-113 for Oscar.
Oscar won the fight, and even so today Mosley is lucky that the W isnt turned into a NC Mosley admitted to using steriods for that fight......
Remember Mosley's face when he was announced the winner. He was in complete shock -- there is a pic going around somewhere of this from that fight. Not to mention how frustrated Mosley was in between round after the mid point of the fight. He knew he was beaten.
He came on strong last two rounds, three is stretching it but being generous. He came on that strong because he knew, his corner knew, the ringside observors knew, even Merchant knew, he needed a knock out to win the fight.
De la hoya clearly won that fight. I gave the first 7 rounds for De la hoya while Mosley sweeping the last 5 to make it 115-113 for De la hoya.
Clean and more effective punching although I thought DLH outworked him to the point of where on my card is was a draw. Mosley would go rounds with throwing 5-6 punches it seemed.
