The clean and effective puncher vs the busier (stiff jab, footwork) holds weight if the harder puncher is being so consistently throughout the fight. As Jimmy said, Mosley went through most of the fight completely confused. Mosley did better against Cotto than he did in this fight.

Its been awhile......but for those that dont remember.....the mojority of fans that witnessed this fight on HBO PPV were mostly of the opinion that DLH had gotten robbed......(obviously HBO influenced)

......the majority of the media and fans at ringside were of the opinion that Mosely was the victor. (Most credentialed journalist at ringside commented that Mosley's shots were landing with a thud, and DLH was making grunting sounds as Mosley landed)

The journalist writing about the happenings spent the following days writing more about the HBO bias and influence to the TV viewer that they did writing about the fight.

I had Mosley winning comfortably and the reason being that Mosley clearly landed the much more effective punches and clearly swept the championship rounds.

I remember George Foreman stating that DLH won that fight.

I always scored it for Mosley 115-113, even the first time I watched it. I thought there was no controversy, Mosley landing the harder shots especially to the body.DH fans sould not be too upset, DH won some debatable fights, like Whitaker, Quartey, Sturm and lost some like Trinidad, Mosley.

Naw....Shane just got a decision that went his way....good for him. But DLH won the fight without a doubt.

Poor judging in my opinion. De La Hoya won clearly.

DLH-Mosley 2 was one of the biggest robberies I've seen. DLH clearly won. Mosley didn't lay a glove on him all night.

Even Mosley and his dad/trainer believed that Shane won the fight.

Going to the 12th round, Shane's dad say : "You need a KO to win this fight"

And as soon as the decision was announced, Shane was shocked with the veredict.

I had 116-112 for DLH. Shane came stronger in the latter rounds but a fight is judged round by round.

By the way, I had Sturm, Mayweather and arguably Quartey and Pea beatting DLH.

Close fight that could have gone either way.... I have always thought Mosley won the fight, it depends on what you look for. People crying robbery is bull****, lots of people ringside had many different scores for the fight, hard fight to score but hardly a robbery.

    No.

Way over the top there, I've seen much worse robberies.

Tito/Deloahoya, and Holyfield/Lewis were both much worse.

I had it 115-113 for Oscar. If I had to alter it in any way, I'd go 116-112.

I thought (and IMO, Shane thought )that Oscar won the fight.

Why do people believe Delahoya was robbed in this fight? I thought Mosely did enough to win the rematch by at least 3 points. The forgotten aspect of this fight is the body punches that Mosely landed in close, particularly in the corners, and he got the better of the exchanges between the two. Sure, Oscar put the pressure on Shane, moving forward, but it wasn't effective pressure and Mosely beat him to the punch many times coming in.

I shake my head at those who felt Delahoya was robbed against Mayweather too. Once again, Oscar got smoked in close to the body by Mayweather's combinations. This time, Oscar wasn't saved by the crowd cheering for every shot he threw that didn't land. The judges actually paid attention to the action in the ring and the fighter who was landing the cleaner, harder punches.

The judges didn't pay attention to the action in the ring when Delahoya fought Whitaker, Quartey and Felix Sturm. As far as I'm concerned, Pernell gave Oscar the biggest boxing lesson of his career and was robbed in that fight. Although Ike Quartey was close to being stopped in the 12th round by Oscar, this one last round should not have dictated the final scoring of that fight. Quartey dominated that fight with his jab and straight right, buckled Oscar's knees a couple of times and DLH spent many rounds doing nothing. Add to the fact that Quartey was already hard pressed to get a fair decision in Las Vegas and he knew it. The Felix Sturm decision is one of the reasons why boxing is suffering today. If the Hopkins fight wasn't signed, Delahoya loses this fight in the scoring by a minimum of 4 points. Sturm clearly won the majority of the rounds, and the evidence was clear on Oscar's face after the final bell.

The only fight that I can honestly say Delahoya deserved to win was against Felix Trinidad. It's his own fault that he didn't close out the fight properly, running away from Trinidad, but that was one fight he should have won.
