I think that you can only rehydrate the weight that you have lost the night before or the day itself. As shown on the 24/7, DLH was already weighing at 147 a week before the fight.
oscar told before the fight that he wants to be lighter to be faster, as he already got power being the the natural bigger man
I've been saying all along that Oscar could never make 147lbs in a healthy manner any longer. At 154lbs he looked solid, the extra seven pounds simply stripped his body down far too much, and he had nothing left to fight with.
I think a lot of the points already mentioned regarding his weight are valid. If DLH starved himself for weeks to stay close to 147 then it would have a huge impact and would not blow up to the expected 160. By doing this DLH tossed into the trash his biggest advantages over Pacquiao, his size and strength. He looked weak, old, and unwilling to take risks. Reminds a lot of Chris Byrd going down from HW to LHW looking sickly and getting demolished.
Big mistake. But Oscar would have fared well against average competition. In this fight, he was too old, his conditioning sucked, and he was fighting against one of the great monsters in boxing history. Nothing to be ashamed of in general. It is just time to retire.
Oscar messed himself up. His body wasn't prepared to fight with less calories his body became acclimated to.
Yes but AFTER his workout. He was 5 or so pounds above that before his final, 12 rd sparring session shown on 24//7. It's a mystery why he only gained 2 pounds after obviously being 'dried out' at the weigh in.
weighing scale was a bit controversial. Hoya oddly announced how much he weighed on fight night, this is usually kept a secret.
We'd have to ask Oscar himself to know the true answer. Hopefully he'll eventually speak out about this.
