I don't know squat, but if it wasn't the indigestion, I'd bet its Leonard making fun of him that did it, although, if memory serves, Leonard did that a lot in the round before RD quit and then none of it in the actual round he quit.

He felt SRL was acting like a clown, and wasn't himself in good enough shape to do anything about it.

That's correct and Duran couldn't take the humiliation he was starting to be subjected to.

Did Norris ever mention getting stopped by 14-4-1 Keth Mullings who had won just 1 of his last 6 fights? :patsch

    In this intervew....

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M4pwhEUWoC

... Ray says that he thinks it was the humiliation of his taunting him, and he mentions another factor that maybe wouldn't have occured to us, which is that they (the fighters) could hear the audience laughing and that the more SRL did it the more they laughed.

I came away from "Hands of Stone" and the 30 for 30 with the same conclusion. Duran says it and it isn't surprising given the personalities at play.

he was paid off by mobsters who ran the show on leonards side. He took a $30 million dollar payoff and it is widely known in both camps. If Duran won that fight, he'd be dead in a dumpster somewhere.

Bullsh*t. There are easier ways to throw a fight than throwing your rep down the toilet.

Any one who quits in the middle of the fight like that should be man enough to admit he was beat.
