Why did ESPN give best femal atlete to Ronda over Serena?

Internet fans pick those winners not ESPN staff.
Ronda was all over her social media accounts begging fans to vote for in all the categories she was a nominee whereas Serena (and Floyd Mayweather for that matter) didnt even mention the ESPY's at all during that calender year. Simply put: Ronda won because Ronda (along with the UFC) has more internet pull than Serena who coulda cared less about the award.
