Why did Ezzard Charles not fight for Lightheavy Title?

    Yes, he did. Although they were the two highest ranking contenders also.

    The honey pot was the HW title, the LH title was a stepping stone to that honey pot. Charles would take the opportunity the LH title represented if he could get it but it was no big deal. Just a payday before moving up. Charles was Gus’s #1contender for just one year before he moved up. Floyd Patterson was LH #1 for as long as ezz, nobody is crying for floyd.

    Choklab, I was reading another article today, in which Charles was saying he was not fussed about the Heavyweight title, he was just wanting the extra money that came with it.
