Had he not retired then he would have been forced into retirement

Mayweather thought he deserved more money in the rematch since he won the first fight and wanted to renegotiate. Oscar disagreed so Mayweather "retired" rather than give in to Oscar.

If he wanted to duck those guys, why come back? You guys act like they all died or something. He came back and Cotto was still there. Pacquiao was still there. Margarito was still there. Everyone was still there when he came back. That negates those duck claims.

HE RETIRED FOR ONE DAY MORE THAN OSCAR'S REMATCH CLAUSE DATE EXPIRATION.

Coincidence or the "timing is right?" In some ways it worked out for him, with not having to fight anyone in that time frame, and when he came back he couldn't wait one day to make a fight with you know who instead of lw hunting... :rofl

I may be wrong but I thought Marquez challenged Mayweather not the other way around. I never heard Mayweather mention his name before. Who do you think he was avoiding at that time?

If you can't see why he retired then you're a fool.

    This.

He had simply beaten all the top fighters / toughest challengers. He was just too good to continue.
