Worst boxing era yet this fight is most definitely going to break all records. Endless cries for 5 years for this fight to happen and when it does, some people are still crying.
Talent and skill wise it's probably the worst. Marketing and promotional is a different story but it doesn't reflect the condition of boxing today. If you think boxing is as healthy and as deep in the talent pool as in the 90's, 80's or 70's you must be smoking crack... It took 6 years to make this fight, and now both Pac and Mayweather are past their FFS. They have also been holding belts, divisions, and fighters hostages and have been fighting a string of B, C and past prime fighters. I think real boxing fans will be crying until Mayweather leaves the sport, he's been a pathetic P4P champion comapred to the likes of DLH, Leonard, Duran, Hearns, Sanchez, Benitez and a host of other warriors who fought anyone and everyone no excuses.
How does referencing the five years it took to make the two top fighters in their weight class fight each other exactly help your argument here? It's a damning indictment of the miserable state of boxing over the last five years that it took that long.
I wholly agree. Porter is a solid top 10 WW/LMW but he's even more one dimensional than Madaina.atsch
floyd believes pac is shot........he even said today in a interveiw "it was the fight time to take the fight now it was a smart move" he avoided pac at his best that will never change...........he never really wanted the fight until now in 2012 he offered pac 40 mill WITH NO PPV money and this was when pac was number 1 p4p but now pac has had a offical lost and got knocked down but gets 60-40 split?
'Real boxing fans' are going to line up and pay that 100 bucks to watch this fight. The haters will get in where they fit in too. But go ahead and get all that bitterness out of your system, bruh. It ain't good for you.
Maidana is a weak girly man in comparison to Porter. Brook was physically strong enough to contain Porter up close and keep him honest with his power, but it's not a certainty that fragile, delicate, pillow-punching Mayweather would be able to do the same. Boxing is littered with examples of better technicians being roughed up by bigger, stronger, more physically imposing guys. Porter is a midget but built like a tank, explosive and uses his strength well at close quarters.
I think floyd binded his time until now. He could have easily made the fight happen the first time, but he was the one making unreasonable demands and splits. He didn't want any of manny because he knew he was a threat to his unbeaten record which was helping him build his hypetrain empire How come no other fighter has caused such problems with floyd? And how come Manny never had any problems arranging fights with any other fighters? Now it only took a couple of months of negeotions to get the fight agreed.
Both of their ppv numbers were dwindling, Arum said f it, the show's over time to cash in. And Showtime told Floyd, you're giving us a Pac fight before this contract is up, and Pac is unobligated now, so the time is now. That's basically what Floyd meant when he said it was all about the timing, only when it had to happen.
