good post. but still they robbed us of a trilogy. this could have been better than juan-pac:twisted: just imagine seeing this fight in 2009 when they both were at their primes. oh what could have been:|
He wanted to wait until he had a chance of beating him, plus he has been boxed into a corner. Even the moronic Mayweather supporting public wouldn't spend big bucks on Khan or Maidana 3.
Pacquiao really forced Floyd to a fight that if Floyd backs out again, everyone will blame him even his most hardcore fans. Arum even asked the help of his longtime friend moonves to command floyd to fight pacquiao.
Joyboys are even denying the existence of the contract when floyd still won't sign and telling the world that pacquiao is a liar.
Exactly. Floyd is OLDER than Pac. He's been boxing longer, forced into boxing by his father at age 5. The wear and tear on Floyd is irrefutable. Oh wait, you actually thought Floyd was waiting for Manny to get older? I guess he wanted to give Pac a chance. :rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl
Bob didn't shut his mouth......he's been talking still..just this week he said if Floyd didn't accept this week the fight would not happen. He did say a couple weeks back that he knew nothing but obviously he had more insight than he was letting the public know because Floyd wanted Bob out of the negotiations. I'm surprised it's finally happening but better late than never. I think both men are going to bring out the best in each other. Floyd seems to want to make a statement and seems to feel Manny's not the same fighter he once was......ever since Ariza left camp.
Bob did shut his mouth. The man usually disparages Mayweather at every turn. There wasn't really a single negative thing he said. Think about it. In fact, I would argue Bob had a "positive attitude" the entire time. Complete 180 for Bob Arum regarding Mayweather and Pacquiao fighting. Moonves at CBS put a gag order and told everybody to STFU to the media. Just IMO. It doesn't help get a deal done, and I've said as much before. How do you expect to make a multi-million dollar deal while insulting the other party publicly? You don't. Bob played nice, didn't have his usual temper tantrum in front of the media, and let the grown ups negotiate. (Pretty sure DiBella was the front man in negotiations, not Bob) I made several posts that "no news is good news." Mayweather doesn't negotitate through the media, so silence from his camp is normal. What wasn't normal was the silence from Bob Arum. That's when I knew real progress was being made. And I was confident enough that this fight was a guarantee, that I would have booked my flight/room in Vegas 3 weeks ago if I planned on attending. I had no doubt the fight was on.
Pac had to accept the Floyds demand for his drug testing......otherwise that would give Floyd an out. Manny agreed to the drug testing years ago but Floyd came up with other reasons why he couldn't fight Manny until now. Regardless. .....the fight is on and it's going to be a massive global event!
Yes, I think Floyd saw the demand for this fight as slipping further away the longer they let it go. Its a business and Floyd knows he should cash in while they can still make a good pay day off of it.
You can say the same about Floyd.....he usually has a lot of negative things to say about Bob but has not been nearly as vocal or aggressive in putting Arum on blast. I think because the fight was made a while back. .....not officially because Floyd wanted to own the announcement of the fight. Bob was stifled from claiming Floyd didn't sign the contract which was not the case. I think Arum lied to apply pressure on Floyd via the public demand thinking the fight was ready to be made only if Mayweather would sign the contract. Which of course wasn't really done due to the two networks working out the details on how the fight would be broadcasted.
Damn bro I couldn't agree with you more. Like you and many others I will watch it, but to be honest I am not really pumped up about this fight. They should have done this 5 years ago when they were both still on point . Timing is everything in boxing and matching two fighters at their peaks is what is good for boxing.
