Maidana easily won polls on just about every site except Mayweather's site.

Every other Poll ( ESPN YAHOO etc. )

had Maidana winning. Khan personally sent his twitter followers to the poll.

Twitter followers dont exactly add up to PPV buys.

Latinos support their own. The fight will do well.

Khan has more fans though, I've never heard any casual boxing fans mention Maidana before the Broner fight. More casuals have known about Khan for a longer time period than Maidana. Only hardcore boxing fans talked about Maidana before the AB fight. It could be a triple threat. All three of them need to get in the ring at once surrounded by a steel cage and settle it.

I think they used several polls to make the decision. I heard most voted for Miadana on the other polls.

Because the poll was never relevant to who Mayweather actually chose. Both fighters will generate enough viewers regardless. Mayweather used it as a tactic to get people interested and talking about his next fight. It created additional drama that is nothing but great advertising.

His tactic worked and now twitter/boxing forums like this have blown up.

Exactly as he wanted them to.

This. Euro revenue projections probably came out less than anticipated, plus Khan was generating lots of bad press.

Casual fans use google. Anyone who googles Khan is going to see he has been lackluster, and anyone who googles Maidana will see he has had a spectacular year.

Though I respect the opinions of lots of people who say Khan is the bigger draw due to being better known.. I cant help but still think their marketing calculus is a few years out of date.

SHO/CBS is going to spend 10-20 million marketing the fight, and when it comes to active marketing (as opposed to passive marketing based on existing name) Maidana is 1000x an easier sell. People who DKSAB can and will be led to believe Maidana has a chance based on his 2013 highlights.

First off, don't even bother with an English class. No need at all. Already perfect in that department. Second, I'm glad he didn't pick Khan. Khan is so overrated and while Maidana isn't the best fighter either, he at least somewhat earned it.
