If I recall. Tsyu landed some flush power shots on Hatton. I may not have a good memory, but I remember that being the whole argument for the Hatton fan club that Mayweather in no way could knock Hatton out b/c he took Tsyus best shots. This was said over and over and over by some of the same backtracking posters on this thread.

This is the answer right here.

It wasnt that Mayweather was bigger or in better pyshical shape it was to do more with the refs and what they aloud to happen in England wasnt aloud to happen in Las Vegas its that simple.

As soon as Hatton got close to Mayweather it was broken up and they were split apart so Mayweather was favoured all night.

And Hatton was aloud to grab punch Tszyu all night wherever he wanted including in the nuts.

Because nothing is written and everything can happen in boxing.

Mayweather KOed Hatton and Kostya didn't. Kostya KOed Judah and Mayweather didn't. McCline knocked down Peter three times and Klitschko didn't. There are no formulas or dogmas in boxing, period.

Also another huge factor is Mayweather is in his peak prime condition of his life. With not many talented fighters like there was 10 years ago in the lighter divisions with the names like Whitaker,Chavez, Dela Hoya, Trinidad etc. Yes there is Cotto and Hatton but really are they as talented as these men i mentioned.

Tszyu was 35 years and 9 months fighting on foron soil after two serious injuries a shoulder reconstruction and a achilles opporation which was a huge difference.

You have to look at every aspect and weigh them up.
Not taking anything away from Mayweather,Hatton or Tszyu but if Mayweather was coming through when Ten years ago would he still be undefeated against Prime men like Chavez,Dela Hoya,Whitaker or Tszyu at the lighter weights when all where in there Prime.

Time, age, Styles, Injuries, Refs all play a huge part at when and why fighters win and lose when they do its that simple.

Thats bull****, he had to drain less and he said he was peaking perfect. No ****ing excuses from the Hatton camp about his conditioning. He looked strong in the ring and took a lot of hard shots and kept coming.

I agree Hatton should have NO and i mean NO excuses he looked ripped and ready. He just came up against a Prime fighter that was way too good.

Hell 85% of the boarders on this site had Mayweather winning easy what does that tell you.

Also did you see Tszyu make any excuses against Hatton after he lost in England with an English Ref at 35 years of age after 2 serious injuries.

No all Tszyu said after the fight was the better fighter won on the night.

    Well said Pretty.

Mayweather was able to knock Hatton out for a large arsenal of reasons, but the number one reason imo was the fight being at Welterweight. Even though Floyd is not a big Welter, he established himself at the weight, while Hatton had shown vulnerability there, with a dubious win over the good but light punching Collazo, a fight in which Hatton was badly hurt at the end. The weight difference just seems to be huge with some fighters, Hatton was able to smother Tszyu's punches, but he still took some flush ones very well, while Floyd was jacking his head back and obviously hurting him before the KO despite not being a big puncher.

Because KT was past his prime and Hatton just basically mauled him to death.
I'm no KT fan but the man is vastly underrated. You should have seen him school Vernon Forrest in the Ameteurs.
I'm not so sure who would win between him and Mayweather at jr.welter.

Haven't read all the replies so dont know if this has been said...

Hatton closed in on Tszyu. He really pressured him. Tszyu and the ref both let Hatton swarm him and Tszyu played Hatton's game instead of his own. Tszyu's power gets sapped up quite a bit in close and needs a bit of range to wear down and accurately target his opponent. He had no range at all in Manchester that night...

PBF eventually got Hatton to stand back a bit and found range, wore Hatton down and connected when and where it mattered. PBF was the better tactician on the night he fought Hatton than Tszyu was the night he fought him.

Power probably has as much to do with it as what Hatton ate for breakfast that morning... Maybe he lost some chin in another fight... maybe Tszyu loosened him up... You can't claim its solely power... Tszyu KO'ed Judah, PBF didnt.

    Good counter-point.

And don't forget, the two refs had very different styles in what they allowed.

Floyd was able to wear down Ricky by using his forearm and blocking a lot of his incoming punches. PBF also opened up a little bit on offense and countered Ricky effectively around the 5th round. Ricky lost steam in the mid rounds and it was just a matter of time before he was KO'd. Cortez also didn't allow him to maul or wrestle PBF, he broke them up immediately everytime.

Zoo was past it and wasn't able to slow down Ricky, and the ref allowed Ricky to basically smother Zoo with roughhouse tactics. This wore on him, and he wasn't able to land his right, which was his only chance to win after about the 7th round or so.

Because Floyd has a faster hands and better timing than KT. And besides KT was taken out of his fight plan because of Hatton non stop holding and hugging. Hatton was not able to do that against Floyd because Floyd won't allow it. :yep PBF's used his footworks . . . . plus the ref not allowing too much holding.
