Boxing is boxing... for example, Mike Mollo KO'd McBride in 2, but it took Golota 6 rounds. When Golota and Mollo fought it was a landslide victory for Golota. You can never reallly compare fights.

Floyd beat Hatton at his own game and engaged him in war a little bit. He used his forearm to keep Ricky honest and whenever Ricky tried to get rough, PBF got rough back.

Hatton practicly was standing by his strong legs, He did not have oxigen to preserv an anemic control and reistance.

Please ... is this thread by a floyd fan suggesting he hits harder than Tszyu?

Go through the careers of both and you'll constantly find Tszyu's opponents saying they'd never been hit as hard by anyone else. That's the ones that weren't carried out.

Floyd is faster, certainly hits hard with both hands and is a superstar, but you're analysing two guys at very different stages in their careers.

Hatton said himself he never got hit with Tszyu's right hand properly. It was only in some of the Mayweather press conference he suddenly changed his story and said he took 'Tszyu's best shots' which was just publicity.

You had a 35 year old Tszyu who failed to make weight on the first attempt, who also had one of his lowest right hands thrown in any fight he's been in. Dodgy ref and it turned into an 11 round wrestling contest.

I think we'd have seen a different result if Tszyu had been given Cortez as the ref in America.

The irony has been Hatton's whinging about the ref against Mayweather. What goes around comes around I suppose.

    2 things.

1, the ref allowed hatton to smother & hold Kostya so it nullified most of Kostya's attacks. He grabbed alot with PBF but they were broken up plenty more times than they were against Kostya. Everytime Hatton had to try get back in again after being separated, he took shots.

2, Kostya got worn out so towards the later stage of the fight, he was loosing mot of his gas. Something Hatton was hoping for in the Floyd fight but instead it was him that got tired. This contributed to his KO alot because he became even more sloppy and desperate, jumping all over the place. He jumped straight into Floyds perfect left hook. It wasnt so much Floyds power that did it, it was Floyds timing in executing the perfect counter.

He was fully aware of Kostya's big right hand - Mayweather has what you could call cumulative punching power and is very accurate i.e. 20 shots landed accurately would be equal to a couple of Kostya's big right hands.

Basically, if Mayweather had fought like Tszyu, Ricky would have been able to stick on his chest and take most of the shots, but with Floyd being elusive and accurate whilst counter punching, Hatton was in trouble late on.

To be honest, the guys who have had the most success against Hatton (generally) have been counter punchers, but Ricky has always been able to get them away from their comfort zone and fight his way - this worked against Collazo but was a bold move (with Collazo being naturally bigger) which paid off. Aganist Mayweather, this wasn't going to work - a guy who is faster and fitter (usually Ricky is the fitter man in there) etc, once he realised the problem, the fight was nearly over.

I think it would be unfair to say that Ricky has no plan B - he has used it effectively against other fighters, but to use his 'plan B' against Mayweather would have been to outbox him, and would have meant a repeat of the Gatti beating. He had only one realistic chance of winning, and it didn't work. No shame in that, there is a puzzle to beating Floyd, and nobody has found all the pieces and put them together yet. By the time somebody has figured it out, Floyd will have probably retired!

Floyd baited Hatton, plain and simple. He let Hatton take a little, get over confident and make mistakes. All the while Floyd knew exactly what he was doing, and all he had to do was wait for the opening. And like the near-perfect fighter he is, he capitalized on the mistake he so subtly forced.

It's not a matter of brute strength and raw power but very much more of a combination of handspeed, accuracy and timing... Kostya threw the shot and didn't rotate or follow up, just stayed and relied on sitting down with single bombs whereas Floyd consistently hit the target with power and speed and always put himself in position to follow up. That was obvious when Ricky was rushing in - Kostya would try to sustain his attacks and absorb Hatton's roughness and Floyd made the most of Hatton's forward motion by turning and hitting him, increasing the impact double-fold.
