Why did Foreman find turning Frazier into mincemeat so easy?

seems strange to me that one of the most powerful and deadliest heavyweights of all time that was continuously rocking and shocking Ali take such a bad whupping twice from Foreman? Any tactical analysis here?

Was Foreman that much better than Frazier? Was he just far superior? Or was it a mish mash of styles?

It was mostly styles combined with the right physical attributes.. No, Foreman was not a "better" fighter overall than Frazier... Only a bad match for him head to head... Joe's bobbing and weaving style was great for slipping the jab and creating an opportunity for landing that left hook, but against a big puncher who bombarded him with hooks and upper cuts at close range, it was terrible chemisty... he was also in the ring with one of the hardest punchers of all time, with the strength to come forward and bully him....

After beating Ali Frazier had been enjoying la dolce vida. His prime fight weight was around 204. He'd pretty much peaked after the Ali win and went soft, as his alarming post-Ali fight weights clearly show. He came into the Foreman looking pretty doughy; a full 10 pounds above his best. The 1970 Frazier gives GF a much better fight, imo.

Styles makes fights plus Joe was living the good life. Not a good combination.

It is a matter of two bombers who like to fight, but one has height, reach, and superior, massive power.

If Frazier showed up focused and in great shape, who knows...

His best bet would be try to take his time like he did in the rematch, slipping Foreman and looking to go to the body instead of loading up and missing wild left hooks. Mathis is a decent prototype.

Funny, considering that Foreman always said he was petrified of Frazier.

Did he say it with a straight face? He's quite the salesman, George is.

I'd say Foreman's record and accomplishments are far superior to Frazier's and I think he was the better boxer by far. But the fights shouldn't have been as one sided as they were on paper.

Frazier in the rematch did pretty well, almost pattersonesque type of style.
its pretty strange to see a guy that you are so used to a certain type of figthing that when he shows you his technical skills he was pretty adept just too far past it when it happend.

Well, Frazier didn't give himself a chance. He had been touring and partying with a Funk Band in Europe, living the good life, and didn't really regard Foreman as much of a threat.

In the rematch, Frazier had the right gameplan but his body had been destroyed by this point.

well yeah, i think he was worried. he hadnt fought anybody as high caliber as smoke, but due to him being born again and having to walk straight and humble in the presence of fear i think he says it in a side way on form of devotion.

Well I think if you look for the composite of a heavyweight who would be a nightmare for Frazier then it was George, both physically and mentally.
You had to be big and immensely strong, have great power,a great chin, and the ability and mindset to not let Frazier get on the front foot, because Joe couldn't fight going backwards.
George had all of that, and did all of that.
