So I've learnt.........George was the greatest foreseer of boxing greatness in history........and 99 isn't part of the 90's.

Because George Foreman was the no.1 contender and many in the media figured that Foreman with his immense punching power could have disposed of Jimmy Young without any problem as Young could not break an egg with his feather fists. Jimmy Young won me $10.00 on March 17 1977, he took a heavy puncher who lacked stamina into the later rounds, something Foreman was not accustomed to, decking the severely fatigued Foreman in round 12 to secure the victory. I don't buy the malarky of the climate conditions outdoors, the humidity had to affect Young too. George Foreman had ample time to prepare just like Jimmy Young, who fought a much smarter fight than George.

That’s just it, it’s such an independent thing pal. You’ll hear a lot of arm chair psychology, Foreman is all who could tell you the real truth of the matter and he might’ve forgot it in his heart, maybe only the guy lost to time whom lost to Jimmy Young could tell you.

Time to change life. He became a better person after Young getting a lot of money with his grill and becoming a preacher.

Just one thing and i might be reading wrong - the grill actually came well after he started boxing again.

Scheming George has now replaced Foreman-With-A-Parrot-On-His-Shoulder as my favorite incarnation of George Foreman on this forum.

Foreman didn't have ample time to prepare.... he'd been in Puerto Rico less than 24 hours unlike Young.

Furthermore, the ringside temperature was described as the hottest in recent memory aside from Ali-Bugner (which was two years prior).

He also quite obviously, was not the same fighter he was pre-Zaire as the Lyle and Frazier bouts (The version of Frazier he faced, shouldn't have made it out of the first round, let alone to the 5th).

The grill doesnt matter. Already when he returned to boxing in 1987 ten years after Young he was no longer the nasty man he was before. Then came the grill, more money and the title again.

Swag, With all due respect, everyone has time to prepare, going around trying to promote fights is up to promoters not for fighters to do. Even if Foreman did not train in Puerto Rico, it was up to his trainer Gil Clancy to see to it that he trained, it is not Jimmy Young's fault that he was in condition to withstand the climate, they could have rescheduled the fight, I don't buy the climate excuse, I cannot be convinced. Foreman went into the bout overconfident because Young did not have a punch that could pose any danger. When I ran Cross Country my Sophomore year of High School, we prepared on the course we were going to run, we never took anyone or any team for granted, but Foreman did buddy, Young won me $10.00 that night in my Senior year of High School, the guy I bet with tried the excuse route, but I told him if a fighter goes around appearing on sports shows and does not prepare like his opponent does, tough cookies.

George Foreman was a typical bully in his first career, he tried to emulate his hero Charles Sonny Liston. But with bullies the first time someone stands up to them and hits them between the eyes, they fold as George Foreman did against Muhammad Ali and Jimmy Young. All that climate excuse is just Foreman unable to accept defeat, denial. Also his fans are into denial with that hooey, I felt instead of being on talk shows and frolicking with numerous ladies, he should have been training. Excuses are like people's behinds, everyone has one.

I (the man from the profile picture, and my nickname is my last name) had a priest and a policeman break into my house (the priest broke in, and the policeman was watching); so I don't think it was sent by God  otherwise I would have received it.
Although this has nothing to do with Foreman vs Young, but I am a believer.

    1986 Texas

Foreman's wife: "Its nice to see an old friend pop by to say to George"
Archie Moore"oh you know its the least I can do, man can't take his friends for granted these days"
George "Mary can you do us a favor and get a glass of water for our guest, I figure me and this ol mongoose got some catching up to do"
    Foreman's wife "sure thing dear"

Both men smile and wait for Mary Foreman to leave the room

Archiec Moore "OK you hustling SOB, what's your game?"
Foreman looks around making sure no one else is within earshot "OK Arch, all these suckers think I've found God and living that righteous life...".

George unrolls a map on the table

" haha but I've been playing the game and biding my time, look here, we start the comeback in 87 with me "reformed" a man of god.."
Archie Moore"someone we can sell to the public and the networks"
Foreman"Exactly, these rubes will never suspect I'm the same bad ass bully from the 70s"
Archie"but you and I know that you ain't changed"
    Foreman gives Archieva knowing wink
"Look here, we start by going town to town knocking over stiffs for pennies with the excuse its forv" my church" haha"
Archie"Only if your place of worship is your bank account haha"
foreman "Exactly! Now the only thing is someowhere down the line to really sell this ruse I'm gonna need an opponent who people recognize but isn't a threat, its gonna have to really resonate, I'm just not sure who..."

Both men think for a while then their eyes light up at the same time

    "GERRY COONEY!"

Ok so since your not religious you want to put your interpretation on it and screw what George said happened to him. Considering it happened in 77 and its now 2023 and George is still a saved Christian I'll stick with his version of events. You being incredibly condescending about this don't u think
