Even if he was favored against Ali he still was facing arguably the Greatest to ever do it at that weight. If not ever but that's subjective. I would have to read up more on that time but ofc Young was no Ali so I think he could justify to himself losing to Ali more but that's me speculating. Credit to Young for hanging in there I dont think enough credit is given to him for enduring.

I was quite polite about it in that post I thought. I recognised the honesty of his belief which was the point of my comment (in case you missed it). That's pretty much all I said not sure why you took exception to that. I just don't believe it actually happened. Do you?

Look if I had heat stroke after someone punched me in the head for 12 rounds and thought Father Christmas spoke to me, threatened to banish me from Santa's grotto and told me what to do with my life would you accept that it really happened? I guess if someone pointed out it was heatstroke and something other than a ride on Father Christmas's Sleigh that could be taken by some as condescending. I think he interpreted the experience a particular way and believes in it for a number of reasons, however that does not make it true does it? I respect peoples right to be religious however I am under no obligation to believe in it. He had an experience, interpreted it in a particular way and then acted on the strength of his beliefs personally and professionally - fair play to him. I can respect the strength of his convictions but I can still think those beliefs are not actually true though. Hopefully I was more condescending this time as I meant to be.

The grill will alway matter, it's made him over $200mil incredibly and who knows how many waistlines it's altered.

Just saying that the grill came over a decade after the preaching, not before, for clarity.

But yes he released all that hatred quite quickly. His is one of the greatest sporting stories in history and his character arc exceeds sport in many ways. In the film he goes to see Ali pleading for his forgiveness because he wanted to kill him. Ali is, well, Ali of course

    That Foreman was the anti-Terminator.

He cannot be bargained with. He cannot be reasoned with. And he absolutely will not try to kill you, no matter how much you offer him.

He had that grill in the works for years too, just waiting until he came back to give it some extra kick.

Oh theres the story you've heard with Hulk Hogan not answering the phone and them going with Foreman, but believe you me, there's definitely a Big Con Foreman story more than likely

    How strange.

Like, to illustrate the turn around in Foreman’s life, I mention his grill as a component of that turn around but misstate the timing of its introduction.

You reply simply to put the timing of the grill in its correct chronological context.

I reply and then tell you the grill, that “I”mentioned, doesn’t matter. What the……???

Even then, you still displayed great patience.

Just for that, I have to say that you are better man than I, Gunga Din.

I agree, it's Foreman's fault for not being acclimatized to an unknown environment, as well as the heat, and flying in less than 24 hours before the bout. My point was this undoubtedly had an effect on his physical condition.

Despite you not buying the climate "excuse" the doctors who treated Foreman certainly "brought" the excuse.

"He later was hospitalized for "heat exhaustion. The TV lights had created more heat at ringside than in any recent bout except for the Ali-Joe Bugner title match in Kuala Lumpur that was seared by the tropical sun."

"George Foreman spent an hour in a hospital, treated for exhaustion and heat prostration after their 12-round heavyweight fight here last night."

Why don't you go tell them what they got wrong?

As for this comment " But with bullies the first time someone stands up to them and hits them between the eyes, they fold as George Foreman did against Muhammad Ali and Jimmy Young."

Frazier more than stood up to him and nailed him with his best hooks. Funny how that didn't seem to work out for him.

Lyle knocked Foreman down twice in a round. I must've missed the part where Foreman folded.

Moorer was battering Foreman for the better part of ten rounds, before Foreman KTFO him. I guess he didn't get the memo that he was a quitter when the going got tough.

He was in the hospital for dehydration and observation for a day or so after the fight. The New York Times printed the photos.

Ray Robinson collapsed from the heat, shortly after the ref did, against Maxim. And the heat didn't impact Joey.

Athletes in sporting events actually collapse from dehydration before other athletes in the same conditions do. Everyone doesn't collapse at the same time.

And whatever delusions or visions he saw changed his life, for the better I'd say - given the fast track he was on.
