Rofl Whyte go KO'd by Povetkin, who in their right mind thought that Whyte would actually challenge Fury?
The "Cunningham fight was a long time ago" argument suggests that Fury would fare better against a fighter like that - while in reality, we have zero evidence for that. The only smaller fighter he faced since was Wallin who gave plenty of problems to Fury even before he badly cut him - and that was quite recently, three or so years ago. If Wallin could trouble Fury and land shots on him, I think we can all agree that Usyk, who is vastly superior to Wallin in all aspects, would definitely trouble Fury and land shots on him. I haven't seen any indications from Fury that suggest he would deal with a quick, mobile, small fighter any better now - and Usyk is several levels above Cunningham too and a southpaw to boot. Usyk has fought plenty of bigger guys both as an amateur and as a professional (let's not forget that with a total of almost 400 fights under his belts, Usyk is most probably the most experienced active fighter today), he knows how to get inside the pocket then get out, he knows how to create angles, how to get out of clinches etc. Just look at his WSB fights against Fa to see how he deals with a much bigger guy trying to clinch him. In other words, even though Fury is unique of course, Usyk has plenty of ideas on what to do against a bigger guy. But on the other hand, ever since the Cunningham bout, Fury hasn't fought anyone even remotely similar to Usyk in terms of size, mobility and style.
Plenty of people did - there was non stop 'Oh Whytes left hook will catch Fury' stuff. Let's also be real, Whyte was demolishing Povetkin in that first fight, he got caught by a punch from the gods, he had Povetkin on the canvas 2 or 3 times for memory.
Well they're dumb, because Fury tanked Wilder's shots and that gave me all the confidence that Whyte would never hurt him.
Because it's as much for show as a heel in pro wrestling. He's acting the bad guy. In reality he said afterwards that Usyk is highly skill and clearly respects him
Look at Usyk's response when asked if he's phased by Fury's name calling, trash talk and antics Timestamped This content is protected
