GRJ fought 24 low calibre fighters and then suddenly decides to fight a two time olympic champion? Was he fooled by the Salido loss? I mean, he would have benefitted to have upped his opposition in increments, not dive head first into the arguably best amateur ever. Arrogance? He seems grounded enough as a guy, likable. What do you make of a pick like that?
Who knows what happens behind the scenes. Maybe Russell was being told he was fighting those opponents and had no choice, got sick of it and demanded he be given a challenge. Maybe it was the complete opposite and his handlers forced him to step up. The only thing we can be certain of is that we can't be certain of any of it.
