In the lead up to this fight I heard interview after interview with old boy talking about how he was taking this fight with Klitschko to save the heavyweight division. How he just wanted a shot and he was certain he was going to win. Then a report surfaced that Haye was not going to fight because he hurt his hand? Then his back? Then it was because setanta was not going to pay him before the fight? So can someone out there please explain the discrepency to the rest of the boxing public.

I have it from a very very good source that it is a genuine back injury.

Back Injury was genuine. Haye has lost out big time. He may now have to risk that chin against a genuine HW.

    I think you should change D to-He couldn't collect his paycheck(at all).

He has either injured his back or he didn't want to fight for free or both.
Whatever out of those reasons it is, it's a genuine excuse. Who here would fight Wlad for free ?

I think it was the money...with Setanta in the verge of going under he felt his fight with Wlad was a huge risk....and one he didnt wanna take for little financial reward. Still he's now going to end up fighting Vitali!! :)

    Exactly!

It is also annoying that some people don't seem to understand the concept of "free." That means no money not less money!

To me it seems highly likely that the whole setanta thing was a ploy to get out of the fight. Demand your whole paycheck before you ever have to step in the ring. Plus, that wasn't the only money he was going to receive from that fight anyway.
