Why did Hearns stop working with Manny?

    I noticed Manny was not in Hearns corner during the V.Hill fight.

    I thought steward thought hearns was done and needed to retire but hearsn didnt want to quit, could be wrong though.

    I wouldnt be surprised if this is the truth. Even Hagler was telling Hearns to retire at one point.

    They split after the Leonard rematch. Then they got back together after Hearns came back. Manny didn't like what he saw and told him to retire. Tommy disagreed and they went there separate ways.

    The initial split was due to financial issues and Tommy wanting to be his 'own man'. After the Leonard fight Hearns went with Harold Smith, someone Steward wasn't too fond of.

    Tommy basically wanted to show he could be successful without Steward.

    Alex Shirer (sp?) was his trainer and shady (literally and figuratively) Harold
    Smith his advisor/manager. This was during Tommy's LA days training out of the VIP gym in Venice Beach of all places.
