Was it lack of will, or lack of skill? Or is going a whole career fighting the distance every time a skill in and of itself? I used to hear it was for religious purposes, but that turned out to be a crock. Should Roy Jones have fought him? How would he have faired against "67 Ali"?
I always wondered if he maybe intentionally held back to avoid getting a knockout so that he could be known for being the guy with zero power. Seems like a weird thing to want to be known for, but hey, better to be known for something odd than not being remembered at all.
Lot's of defensive fighters don't hit as hard as they can. You have to commit to hit hard, and that takes away from your defense. For years I told everyone Fury could hit harder than he was hitting, and I was told that I was an idiot and don't know boxing. Then Wilder II happened. Usyk is the same. Look at the Huck and Bellew fights...the two guys who made him mad. Lawrence, by the way, was a class gatekeeper/journeyman.
