He's had 3 fights at welter and all three have been against the #1 or #2 PFP fighter in the world(neither Floyd nor Pac have done that) and now he's going after Bradley..........stop hating:bart

JMM is not your typical lets-see-who-is-tougher Mexican fighter. Of those he's compared wth, JMM is the most technical and methodical. He'll counter when that's what is needed, but the Mexican blood comes out when he gets hit. He'll hit you back. His fighting style is the difference which is less taxing on his body.

Barrera turned pro at 15.Given his early style he was never going to be a P4Pr in his mid 30s.

What people nowadays seem to struggle with is that with all these elite fighters sailing up the divisions, once upon a time there was a good reason guys boiled down to say, under 9 stone...
Because that was where they were most effective, and they would go through hell to make that weight because that's where they're able to be at their absolute best.
Changes in things like S&C means that it's easier nowadays, but the vast, vast majority of fighters will lose some pop when they move up.
Look at JMM doing it the wrong way v Floyd.Look at how **** Trinidad was at 175.
It's the exception, not the rule, and Barrera and Morales were clearly best suited to super bantam and feather.
Anything else was a bonus.Look at Ricardo Lopez. He lost pop at a weight class that was less than 5lbs above his optimum.

He did not get in as many wars as everyone else. He fought Barrera when he was way past it. He just came late in a time where the only guy he got a chance (well 4 chances I guess, wtf) at was pacman during that golden age. At least we got the pacman fights with him, what a great ****ing time to be a boxing fan. I am not sure anything beats that era (of 122/126/130lbers).

He's bigger than both of them. Started his career bigger and he's ending it bigger.

you were making some sort of a sense before you mentioned Alexander having better resume than JMM. That's how you distinguish a person with awkward but respectable opinion from a troll. And you sir are a troll.

They spent more years at that weight and therefore have more of a legacy at the lower weights. Marquez is good, but he did fight some of the greats he fought at the tail end of their boxing careers.

You don't have to go far. Timothy Bradley looked way better at 140lbs than 147lbs. I mean just 7lbs and Bradley is getting destroyed by a ****ing journeyman he would've most likely embarrassed at 140lbs.

On another note, Ruslan looks pretty damn impressive at 147lbs; he should definitely stay at this weight class. Bradley should really start looking at moving down because he's looking horrible.

Well MAB started at flyweight-superflyweight and Morales was a natural 122lber so in a way they were successful at higher weights, but if you mean like Pacman and Marquez terrorizing 135, 140, and 147 divisions MAB and Morales were already done or declining by 03, but before their decline had they had some nutritionists and help like Pacman and Jmm had they would easily be raising hell and winning belts esp Morales. If a shot Morales was able to school Maidana and Garcia and a prime one gave Floyd a lesson no doubt El Terrible would rule 140-147. But a shot Morales + steroids, well, didn't do **** for him and it seemed he was just desperate to get back to his legendary form, but tho he ****ed up and the world knows he did it,doesn't erase tho a cheat he's the bravest fighter around. In his SHOT form he took on Maidana, Garciax2, and at one point almost took on Matthysse! MURDERER'S ROW of 140! Too brave for his own good. I also think Barrera's and Morales' epic first battle HAD to have taken alot out of them.

All have been sucessful moving up in weight.

When you really analyze JMM's resume, his dominations centers around a 10 pound window, from 126 lbs to 135lbs.

Marquez' meaningful fights outside that zone have been against Mayweather, a naturlly bigger and younger fighter than he is, and twice vs Pacquiao who size and weight wise are about the same.

I think 140 lbs is the limit as far as competing against fighters close to the elite level for Marquez.
I cant see Marquez standing a realistic chance against real elite welterweights in history. He's to small for that.

Get it through your brains people, neither Marquez or Pacquiao are true elite welters!
