Remember when he knocked down klitschko for the first time? A minute later he was gassed out aswell, fighting for survival.
To me it's some mental issue or maybe the adrenaline. When he knocked down Ruiz he went for the knock out, thinking he
got him. But when he realised Ruiz came to fight, he appeared to be gassed for the rest of the fight.

The whole fight was weird since the entrance though, joshua came so relaxed and leaning in cool manner on the ropes, showing
his mouthpiece all the time since he left his changing room.

I think we should wait for the rematch before we go that far, yes he looked like **** and yes Ruiz deserves all the credit in the world. BUT AJ could've just had a career low performance, tho I doubt it

Well the big thing I don't think has been mentioned is there was not much at all on the shots that put him down for the 4th time. He was so discombobulated and panicked that no comeback was on. It was a very Wlad like performance in that sense, he couldn't get back to a composed state.

I rewatched the last round a couple of times now and I could swear he said thats it before the ref asked him again if he could continue then he sheepishly said yes, then asked him again. His reaction of what are you doing when the ref stopped it seemed very forced but in a way relieved to be over with it.

What he said is irrelevant. What matters is his body language and it clearly showed he was done.

Oh no argument there, he was done. IMO the ref stopped AJ from getting knockdown 5 times.

I was just pointing out the fact that AJ was kind of arguing with the ref before he got waved thats all. I'm no way trying to say the ref waved it off early.

Because he was taking huge bombs and got KD's four times. He didn't quit--he got the snot kicked out of him.

What amazes me is ya'll are just arguing Did Joshua quit??? Where are the congratulations deservedly due to Andy Ruiz ?? He literally kicked Joshua's butt. No lucky punch, no corruption, he embarrassed Joshua.
Everyone owes Andy an apology for doubting him & calling him names. He deserves RESPECT!!

He quit exactly for the same reasons as Amir Khan did against Crawford. Neither wished to go out honorably on their shields like true warriors

Reminds me of Carl Williams when he fought Mike Tyson. Carl was not responding to the referee and leaning against the ropes in a daze. Once the ref waved it off, Williams immediately protests the stoppage. Joshua did the same by looking all surprised after the ref signaled it over like "what are you doing man!" Neither he or Joshua were fit to continue, nor did they want to. They just reacted startled to distract those observing from the fact that they were giving up.

Yes, maybe that's an overreaction. But it's hard to spin any positives for Joshua from his performance. After the first KD he was comprehensively broken down and showed very little ability or desire to come back.

Maybe there were external factors in play. A lot of people, Dave Allen included, have mentioned Joshua looking agitated from the start, so maybe there's legs in those rumours. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt for now. But damn, I really wouldn't want to bet anything on him in the rematch, provide there is one. Joshua looked like a broken man, and it'll take massive internal strength to come back from that.
