Because he was really testing Mosleys power, and ended up too stationary a target and the first right hand Floyd took well, when he was responding fire with fire he got caught by a hail mary that snuck right above his shoulder onto his ear, the way he took that punch amazes me still. The man has a good set of whiskers, for sure.
naz richardson said it was about setting his foot position correct to land that shot. it was also shanes combination of long arms and fast hands that are powerful. he also masked the big right behind another shot,he set it up with the quick shot to the body and then sneaked the big right straight after the head. martinez with his speed and timing would destroy floyd!. i could see it landing a little in the first round, but with shane,he has so much power as he throws his whole body and then the kitchen sink into his right hand, when he misses it he falls off balance and falls over. infact when he landed it,he fell into floyd, and gave floyd the chance to clinch for dear life!. ide expect pac to land the straight lefts but then move under and out to the side. it would be pacs counter hooks that would get floyd. floyd gota be given credit for his world class conditioning and boxing brain of survival!.
Nazeem and mosley probably worked on it, they knew what combo would work well to get to mayweather after getting hit with it twice mayweather went to the high guard for the rest of the night
Which they didnt plan for....and this left Mosley confused...he was like "high guard ahhh **** how do i get around that?"
The Shoulder roll is a flawed defensive tool. It only works on fighter who dont follow up on a miss. Missing with a punch can often still put you in position to score because you are still in closer and your feet are still set to throw if you are throwing your punches properly. the shoulder roll is good for making your opponent miss one or two punches, but Floyd isnt in a good position to throw himself and his opponent can catch him with the third and fourth punches. The key is not to smother yourself and get your left foot outside his right foot moving him to the left into your right hand and of course a left hook behind that. .
This is a joke of a thread and i cant belive people are actuly ansering it. Its not because he wanted to test Mosleys power, or the sholder roll is flawed, or it was a set up. Hes a boxer, he got hit. End of
Floyd has actually left himself open to being caught with overhand rights quite a number of times. You need to set it up properly though, and keep the pressure on with the left too so Floyd doesn't start disregarding it, otherwise you wind up with this: I love Shane to death, but his footwork has always been sloppy. Not as bad as recently, but do an intense breakdown on his fights with Margarito and Mayorga, for example, and you'll see his feet slipping out from under him or being out of position all the time. It wasn't as bad against Margarito because Shane had the luxury of standing in one place and letting Margarito come to him then countering, but even so he was out of position or had his feet slipping a lot. That's why he's never had any success against movers or defensive specialists he couldn't overwhelm with speed and aggression. In his prime Shane can go toe to toe with any brawler or banger in the world, but will always have difficulty against pure boxers and elusive targets.
Floyd has a habit when he leads with that left hook sometimes he pulls his head straight back to avoid a counter right hand, Mosley just happend to time it right.
