If this were true Rory Holloway would have had him prepared and beating Douglas.

Rooney only knows how to train one style and not many fighters can fit the Cus D'Amato mold and be successful

He's limited as a trainer overall and only clicked with Tyson because of Cus and his history with Tyson ... he's a specialist in the peak a boo style only

Just not versatile enough to train others to become top tier fighters ... imagine him shouting out numbers to a fighter other than Tyson .. just wouldn't work

Rory Holloway wasnt any of his trainers.
    jay brite and aaron snowell
Holloway was one of his "managers"

Rooney wasnt there for a reason at that point, he was treating tyson like a fighter and not a buddy. once someone gets so big and makes so much money so quick, he doesnt want to be told what to do, when to do it

rooney looked good as trainer because mike tyson was his pupil

roger mayweather seems amazing because of floyd

    roach - pac (or did)

My mistake, but you got my point. At the very least Rooney always had Tyson prepared. That's more than you can say for any other trainer after him. Their styles were very suitable for each other.

i agree....he always had him prepared back then because Tyson was still listening and doing what he was supposed to. all that changed when he got a **** ton of money and got married....and brought his buddies in to train him....by that time he was just going through the motions....

None of the ***gots that trained Tyson after Rooney employed the D'Amato system that Tyson had been molded in. People have to realize that Tyson was crafted into a boxer under that system ... he didn't develop that style on his own, he was created into a boxer by D'Amato.

Rooney wasn't a boxing trainer ... he was Tyson's trainer.

just like Jose Torres, just like Patterson, Rooney fought like that, and so did Mike. It was brilliant while it lasted

Jay brite was supposed to be a cus type protege "supposed to be" ....they were a walking sideshow

Some people are just right for others. Rooney was perfect for Mike.

But great trainers can train all kinds of fighters ... like Eddie Futch, Ray Arcel and most recently Emmanuel Stewart.
