It was a negotiations ego thing, like Pacquiao/Mayweather. Judah's camp complained to the commission about Kostya's tail getting into his face and put into the contract that he would have to cut it off. Kostya was infuriated by this request but he did accept it. However, he put a counter-addition into the contract, that Zab would have to grow his eyebrows back or put stick-on synthetics there so Kostya could read the tells of his facial expressions, the absence of which, he figured hindered his game plan in the first few minutes of their fight.
