Why did Larry Holmes do so well against Holyfield at 42?

    The fights were tough in places but he won both comfortably in reality and never really looked like losing.

    Holyfield said after the fight he had trouble penetrating Holmes defense against the ropes, and that Holmes was clever and would nullify his offence.

    I also think the elbow which caused a nasty cut on Holyfield's eye ? Allowed Holmes to make a strong finish and make the fight closer.
