He tried to move back from Mercer`s punches in a straight line which is a fundamental mistake.

And you think Olympic champion Lewis and Emanuel Steward in his corner never heard of this "fundamental mistake"? Lennox was pushed backward by Mercer's jab, aggression, power and chin, he would need the extra space to then step laterally but that space wasn't there.

Have you seen Lewis`s footwork in his final v Bowe in `88? It`s awful.

The fight where Lewis won the Olympic gold medal by stoppage as a sizable underdog yeah?

He thinks Roy Jones Jr was woeful in his 2 1/2 minute demolition of Griffin too. Missed too many punches :naughty2:

Defining a Boxer by one fight is questionable enough. Defining a Boxer for one specific aspect of one fight... well... an appeal to extremes, perhaps?

Doing so for a Boxer who actually won the 'one' fight in question... ...is maybe getting beyond absurd.

    Funny though.

I was talking about his footwork in that bout.

Jones just threw all caution to the wind in the rematch and didn`t use any skill, he was wild but effective and powerful in that one.

His hand speed and power were great in that bout but he was also wide open as he came in, Griffin just couldn`t mix it with a powerful fast fighter bull rushing him.
