Are you saying Bowe did not duck Lewis?????????? If so it is YOU!! do not know what you are talking about. Lennox had Bowe's number I best of all BOWE knew it:hi:
Oh for sure Bowe blatantly Ducked Lewis. Lewis could still come out of retirement for that fight. Bowe called lewis out and Lewis has said that he would definitely come back for that fight as unlike Vitali he wouldn't have to go to war to beat that tub of lard:rasta
First of all, I doubt it would be "payday of his life" - Lewis fought Tyson for something like 30 mln $$$, and it would be difficult to match it. Don King offered him 25 mln $$$ for rematch with Klitschko, and even if you take his promises seriously it would be still far from "payday of his life". I guess Lewis also did not really need any paydays at this moment of his career. He made probably hundreds of milions of $$$, and unlike Holyfield or Tyson didn't spend much of it. He was getting old and past prime, and the fight with Vitali probably made him realize it more clearly (even if Lewis himself would never admit it).
He would have been 38 in a rematch. He had won am Olympics, been undisputed champ and beat every one he ever faced and went out beating the main up and coming challenger to his throne, despite being the age he was and being out of shape, and had made 10's of millions in the process Why on earth WOULDN'T he retire at that point????
Apparently for the vindication of Vitali and his fanboys. Who can't accept that their guy has a very weak legacy, which is based on him putting up a decent effort against a 38 year old, unmotivated and past prime Lennox, and still getting stopped in 6 rounds. I respect Vitali for what he's accomplished, him and Wlad are great champions, but they're limited fighters. Lennox Lewis is on a whole other level to the Klitschko brothers, and prime Lennox would plough through both of them one after the other. Vitali had the upper hand early on, but failed to adapt when Lennox walked him down, and turned it into a dogfight. This led to him getting stopped, and if they fought again immediately, Lennox would have come into the ring in far better shape, and done the same thing, without the early scare in the second round.
He refused it because he felt he had nothing to prove. For one he knew it would be one fight too many as he was in decline and two, the worst version Lewis beat Klitschko what did he have to prove?
Lewis has got his chance to retaliate after his losses against Rahman and McCall. After this "TKO6" VK deserved a rematch.. all boxing fans deserved it. Why didn't he give this chance to Vitali?? ..despite that he promised the rematch, which was highly desired and eagerly awaited. I like Lewis, but this was a ***** move! :bart
Vitali Klitschko has revealed how Lennox Lewis's mother stopped him getting a rematch with the former world heavyweight champion. Lewis beat Klitschko in June 2003 in controversial circumstances, retaining his WBC title when the fight was stopped after the sixth round in Los Angeles. The Ukrainian had a deep cut above his left eye but led on the judges' scorecards when officials ruled he could not continue. In the referee's opinion the cut had been caused by a punch, which meant that Lewis was automatically declared the winner. If it had been ruled that the cut had been caused by a headbutt, Klitschko would have won the title as he was ahead on the scorecards at the time. Plans for an eagerly anticipated rematch never materialised, with Klitschko yesterday offering an interesting explanation for why that was the case. "Lennox promised me but his mum decided he wasn't going to fight," said the 38-year-old ahead of the Laureus World Sports Awards in Abu Dhabi. "He invited me to London, without managers. He said he wanted to talk just together. I came to the room and his mum is there. We talked for two hours and his mum was looking at me and scanning me. "After that I went away and he called me a couple of hours later and said, 'Sorry, but no'. I felt it wasn't his decision, his mum decided. I tried to change his decision, but it's difficult.
