If Lewis fought Vitali ten (10) times, the results of all ten bouts would look like this: 1.) TKO Lewis 2.) TKO Lewis 3.) TKO Lewis 4.) TKO Lewis 5.) TKO Lewis 6.) KO Lewis 7.) KO Lewis 8.) KO Lewis 9.) KO Lewis 10.) KO Lewis Than Lewis would retire and some bum-fuk Vitali fan would whimper & whine...; "Vitali wuz winning in dem thar ten fights up 'til his"; a) Eye was knocked out b) Nose was hanging off c) Jaw was broken and hanging by a tendon "Lewis didn't want ta fight an eleventh fight cause he knew he would lose." :rofl:rofl:rofl
Lewis' losses to "lessor" fighters hurts his legacy. Ali had his Leon Spinks, but that was it (for official Title losses)
probably because Lewis hit Klitschko with his best punch and had half his face hanging off and the guy did not go anywhere and still wanted to fight. Lewis then sat on the belt for about 8 months waiting to see if Kirk Johnson would beat Vitali so he could say "see our fight was a fluke this guy is no good" and when that did not happen he retired rather than give a rematch.
He retired because he is more intelligent than the average fighter and knew if he fought Vitali again he would get beat. Quite simply great fighters are beaten by younger fighters who go on to be great, Lennox was smart enough to realise in that first fight with Vitali that he was the guy to take over his mantle as the next great heavyweight. If Lennox had fought him again it would have just delayed the inevitable decline of the heavyweight division, Lennox would have lost anyway, retired and nothing would be different today, it is probably fair to say Vitali deserved the rematch but Lennox didnt owe him anything and it was his prerogative to retire.
There is no way Vitali Klitchko ever beats Lennox Lewis. Vitali obviously couldn't hide behind his reach like he often does and a slugfest would only go one way, to the more powerful puncher. Lewis could have taken another year off and i'd still favour him, providing he'd had a 2 month, half-decent training camp.

This is such a stupid debate. True champions find a way to win even when they're not on top of their game. Lewis won. He's an ATG. Get over it.
