    :good

Lewis won and he had nothing to prove. So he retired at the right time.

    Great Champion!

Damn... your right... he did have a huge gut. How dare he embarrass himself and the sport by coming in to this fight so fat and out of shape?

He did the smart thing and actually retired on top...which is what less than .00000000045 percent of boxing champions do.

90 mill GBP is more like 135 million USD.

Lewis is/was intelligent. He didn't want to risk a fight against a hungry fighter that gave him problems when he himself didn't have the hunger anymore.

Obviously it is you who needs to learn more about the sport. The fact that he didn't have any fight on him... AND THE FACT THAT HE WAS ABLE TO TAKE A BEATING WITHOUT GOING DOWN, AND RECOVER AFTERWARD...... proves that he was in great shape. If you knew dick about this sport, you would know that fighters in bad shape don't recover when hurt, and certainly don't stay on their feet and arguably come back stronger afterward.

There is NOTHING pointing towards any sort of proof that Lewis was out of shape. Not his body, not his ability to recover, not his punch resistence, not his ability to take sustained punishment. Stop talking out of your ass.

Exactly. It takes brains to realize when you should hang them up. Lewis was wise enough to realize it's time to stop trying to battle it out with younger, more hungry fighters.

As I said in another post I had hoped he would only have taken 10-12 weeks after beating Vitali to realize this rather than taking 12 months and constantly trash talking Vitali and making a circus show out of his retirement process.

And in the end he retired one day before the WBC threatened to strip him. That was just disgraceful.

His career high weight and the fact that he was breathing heavy and moving sluggish early in the fight is all the PROOF you need that he WASN'T in great shape.

If you love proof so much, why don't you find proof that a fighter who isn't in "great" shape (by professional boxer standards) couldn't take the "beating" you claim he took and recover :deal

Lewis did not have anything left to prove. He gave Vitali his shot and Vitali got beat. Yes it was a good fight but just because Vitali was ahead does not mean he would have won. Vitali looked shot at the end of that fight to if you ask me. It's not Lewis's fault that vitali has weak skin. I think if they would have fault again vitali would have got stop on cuts again. Lewis was the one man even at his age that could hit the klitschko's back. The Klitschko's both have weak skin. He would have koed wlad too. Wlad cannot take a punch.

I would gander so but it is a shame that he is the clumsiest and least coherent speaker I've ever heard. He can't even clearly convey a simple thought. When he's calling a fight, every other sentence out of his mouth is cringe worthy.

Even though as a fan of Vitali the outcome of the fight was heartbreaking I can't blame Lennox for retiring. He was 38 years old, he had a long and grueling career fighting the best fighters of his generation and a long stint in the amateurs.
Lennox was not at his best for the fight with Vitali and still managed to grit out a win.
I respect Lennox for stepping away when he did, in a way it was a small concession in itself that his time at the top had ended.

yeah he was behind and i know what your saying but my point is

he had everything to lose and nothing to gain

if he lost he would have lost all those titles, in the rematch . then he might get ****ed about in the remach with negotiaytions and wouod be 41 by the time they fought again. plus he has beaten every fighter he faced so if he loses to vitali twice that wold hurt his legacy

in al honesty does that make sense to you?
