Lewis won the fight de jure but not de facto. That's the reason he didn't give Vitali a re-match and the reason this issue will never be settled among the fans... Good for boxing, I wish we had more bouts like that one...

You just wanted a thread that would do over five hundred pages. That's not cool, man. :-( ...Not that I wouldn't do the same thing, but still.

You should probably watch the fight before embarrassing yourself any further.:good Lewis took more punishment in that fight than any other fight in his career. That's a fact. The fight only went 6 rounds to boot. The only other fight that comes close was his fight again Mercer, and that went the distance.... still didn't take as much punishment.

If Lewis wasn't in great shape... he wouldn't have made it out of the 2nd round. He DEFINITELY would not have came back stronger afterward.

Say what you will but Lewis kick Vitali's ass and won fair. Vitali has weak skin. If they would have fought again Vitali would have got cut again. My thinking is Lewis would have been a lot shaper in the rematch. Lewis could have beat Klitschko with ease if he would have used his damn jab.

If Lewis feeling he didn't have it anymore or felt he wasn't the same hungry fighter he once was the reason for retirement, then more power to him.

so your are saying that it made sense, especually since he didnt have his hunger, he was in shape but not in the shape of his prime which makes a big difference.

anyoe who has competed in any sport knows that

like i said he had everything to lose and nothing to gain in a rematch.

obviously fighters who aret in shape can stop getting knockdown from a litle defence and heart, that was the main thing going for lewis in that fight. heart and his skill, his stamina and the shape he was in werent his best. if klit coulkdnt knock him down isnt that klits problem:dead

Vitali has been cut twice in his entire career. Amateur, Kickboxing, and Professional boxing..... that's a sign of weak skin? That comment might make sense if he cut all the time, but clearly the facts prove otherwise.

nice try but if you weren't such a biased mother****er you would have agreed

any fool with eyes can see lewis was not in shape, watch the tyson fight and then watch the vitali fight, tell me lewis was in the same shape.

Oh my god dude, enough already! You are being ****ing ridiculous. Me embarassing myself? :rofl Yes I know he took some punishment, but it wasn't the "beating" you claim it to be, maybe YOU should watch the fight again.

He was not in great shape, the guy was gassed after 2 friggin rounds, this is a seasoned champion. Champions in "great" shape do not gas out after 2 rounds......you lose. Move on.

The piece in bold is horse ****.
Lewis was only interested in the Tyson rematch. That fell through so there was nothing left to fight for, after Vitali.
