Why did Lucian Bute lose to Carl Froch?

I think the main reason was that Lucien hit Carl with a hard shot, Carl took it and then gave him one back. It drained the confidence out of him and he crumbled.

I was sure that Bute would be too fast and win a decision. Never underestimate CF

    Yep.

Also, as far as Froch goes, he's built solid as hell. Powerful to the core. He hits harder than his natrual weight implies. (I do think he'd lose alot of sting at LHW)

Bute came out and initiated a fire fight to prove a point, and found out he was out of his leauge, no matter what Beatside wants to think.

What will be even more fun for me, will be the re-match, where Froch out jabbs Bute first, and then knocks him out.

Still would look bad on his part that he has to have his big wins in areas(Canada) he's home at. Also doesn't get rid of the turd stain he had on his trunks from facing Froch.

To be fair, Bute's chin wasn't the main problem against Froch. :scaredas:Yep, heard me right. His fear of facing an opponent in their arena as well as a very solid one did him in. After that Froch just blitzed him. No he isn't a bum to losing to the #2 SMW in Froch and no his chin isn't so bad if he evaded well and actually came with a gameplan.

I'll say on the night they fought Froch was just the better fighter but not to say he can't beat Froch or at least do much better against him than pissing down his own leg. Time will tell what happens to Bute & Froch in the future and wish they move on to big things. Apart from beating Ward:twisted:. Hope Bute does comeback strong.

He's fought at the weight for years. If he couldn't make weight he should've called for a postponment.
It's no excuse at all and it's laughable that anyone's bringing it up.Your reference to him walking about at 180 has no bearing at all.If weight's a problem, rip up the contract and go after Cleverly.
If he had been fighting for years at 175,you'd have a point.
    He's not and you don't.

Froch is naturally heavy-handed, he might not be the most explosive but his shots hurt. At LHW he'd be much less effective but its a poor division at the mo, I'd fancy his chances against any of the belt holders.

Bute took the fight to prove a point & it back fired horribly, he's used to opponents respecting his power & letting him settle into a rhythm but came up against a man possessed.

its worth mentioning that Froch was on a serious rebound with everything to win and a career to save.

Thats contributed to him putting every ounce into the performance.

no excuse for bute not turning up 120% as well.

Bute was as drained as humanly possible.. So he also had to lose hair to make weight.

Bute's footwork and agility were amazing in these two fights , not to mention about his counter punching skills .

Definitely was something wrong with Bute in that night and I don't bite that bull**** about Froch's power , bla, bla , bla. I think Bute didn't make properly the weight loss for this fight and that affected his strenght and condition !

I think that Bute was overawed in fighting away and froze a bit.
I think Bute felt Froch was going to be easy to outbox and then when actually in the arena the crowd and atmosphere got to him.
Maybe if Bute had of been able to relax he may have performed better but his chin didnt hold up under Froch to get the time to adjust.
    Just a thought.

When Froch defended against J Taylor - There was an article I read and Froch was exposed to alot of excited J Taylor fans just before the fight and the atmosphere was intimidating and Froch admitted he froze a bit, which makes sense as early on he was being outboxed and beaten, even floored. Froch said he froze and was just trying for the one big shot because of it, leaving himself to be outboxed. Fortunately for Froch he has a great chin and could get through those rough moments.

Maybe it was similar for Bute??

Bute was KTFO by Golovkin in the amateurs, he was KO'ed by Andrade a couple of years back, and Froch made him his ***** a couple of months back.. I think the questions has been answered

    Good find RS.
Wish there was a stickied thread on that dreadful/hilarious photoshop effort.
As I said at the time, that fight would never have made the cover anyway.

One thing I notice with Froch is that when he is without a title and challenging he puts in fantastic performances like against -

    Pascal
    Abraham
    Bute

but when he is defending a title he seems to be a bit lazy and not do so much look at -
    Taylor behind before end
    Dirrell many think he lost
    Kessler he did lose
Johnson old SMW journeyman took him to a Mdec, few think he lost
    ward he did lose

If Froch gets past Mack, will he be lazy against Bute and get outboxed?
It was shocking how Bute was hurt by any punch that landed and I always thought Bute was worried about punches coming back at him.

I think Bute / Froch in Canada with Froch defending could be a tougher fight that before for Froch
