Anyone got the heads up on this?

Ortiz is a guy I've been trying to scout because, even though he's 34, being a big southpaw with solid amateur credentials and power (we'll see how it translates as he moves up in class) makes him a possible dark horse in the field of contenders if he ever gets a chance to step up.

So, from the sounds of it, last week he knocks out your typical local body in spectacular fashion in the 3rd round, only for the result to get changed to an NC.

I've tried looking up details, with no luck. What gives? And will anybody give Ortiz a chance against anyone decent?

    Ive wondered myself.

Could he have failed the post fight test??????

Not accusing, it's just that these types of overturns are very rarely done when the outcome was not in question.:think

That was one of the things that crossed my mind too, but I figured if Ortiz did test positive, that would've made news (especially with the whole Biogenesis scandal that nabbed Gamboa).

Just weird all around how there's been practically no news of it. All the reports I've been able to find is that the local jobber really got destroyed, which isn't surprising given how many different levels in class are between the two, and that's been it.

Before this, last I knew, he was fighting Travis Kauffman. It may not be a bad idea for someone in his team to start building some kind of social media presence or something; three quarters of the people on this board forget he even exists when they're listing prospects and contenders despite the WBA ranking him #2.

Well, David Nino Rodriguez was looking to fight him, but for some reason that fight never materialized.

Supposedly Nino is healthy again and has signed with Canelo. Maybe Ortiz and Rodriguez, two of the elder prospects in the division can sort out who's gonna move forward to a twilight title shot.:think

I also wondered and googled it ... but came up with nothing.

He is one of those Cubans at HW ... as J C Gomez was after he moved up ... who seem to be content to go nowhere for long periods of time. Those frustrating fighters who should be a factor but just don't fight. From memory Ortiz has fought in spurts against low level comp. and I thought maybe the would rack up 25-0 against low level comp in a short time then use that record as a marketing ploy to get a big all-in fight.

Personally, I think they should have one tournament for all the problematic HWs who are inactive or always injured or have management issues and who frustrate fans for one reason or another, with the winner getting a shot a Wlad if he's still top dog. Ortiz, Boytsov, Helenius, Rodriguez ... etc.

    Via Boxrec.
It was probably a unintentional foul or some injury that was miscalled. I presume it was like Dawson - Hopkins I

For whats it's worth, Robbe Helenius has not been inactive, even though he was seriously injured prior to the DelBoy fight.

Since the DelBoy fight he scored a 9-1 rout over Sherwin Williams (top 75) and Michale Sprott (top 50). Not exactly shlt fights.

Although I have been wondering if the WBC was gonna do that tourney they talked about whereas entering several of their regional titlists to do battle for a top ranking.

    Charr
    Boystov
    Rodriguez
    Arreola
    Stiverne
    Ortiz
to name just a few who held various forms of the WBC minor titles such as Fecom and Fecarbox and International Silvers and Diamond titles etc.

Would sure love for Suleiman to enforce something like that before he keels over. :think
