Why did Maccarinelli mentally crumble on the night just before he fought Haye ?

I think he was ok mentally - up until the night.

I think the stress really started to set in - once Enzo Calzaghes W Reg - 2000 model - Vauxhall people carrier pulled up outside the 02 on the night.

And Maccarinelli was in the passenger seat - with Joe Calzaghe and Jo Emma Larvin in the back seats.

While Maccarinelli trained in the cold gym in the Welsh valleys - running up and down the steps outside and sparring Welterweight Bradley Price - with Enzo Calzaghes Vauxhall People parked outside.

David Haye was sparring rugged heavyweights miles away preparing for the big unifcation fight............................

I would respond with more insults - so we could continue this feud.

But I got no real interest in exchanging insulting posts with someone - on the internet - its a pointless waste of time.

So I will terminate this conversation with you from this post.

Enzo got sparked simple as that. Why the debate?

    No doubt.

    Haye twatted him out.

The thread is - when / why - did the stress kick in before the fight ?

Not what went on in the ring.

What happened psycologically to Maccarinelli ?- when he was in the passenger seat of Enzo Calzaghes Vauxhall People carrier - as they drove through the streets of London on the way to the arena.

No doubt that Enzo crumbled. That sprint to the ring said it all really.

Shame because he definitely had the power to KO Haye. That fight was always a case of who landed first and Enzo made it so easy for Haye. And once he did land, Enzo did the worst thing he could have possibly done and that was to not take a count instead of taking 4 or 5 huge punches in the corner. That was what finished him.

"Who gets hit first" is the same with the upcoming Klitscho fight, except I can't see Klitscho mentally crumbling.

Theres not really any evidence to say if Maccarinelli had landed a punch he'd have sparked Haye out. Theres a little more science to these things than that.

Haye has been badly hurt and knocked down by lesser punchers than Enzo. Haye has always been pretty chinny, not as chinny as Enzo but chinny enough for Enzo to knock him out in my opinion.

If Wlad lands a big right hand on Haye's chin I will be amazed if he takes it.

Surely being transported to the arena in a vauxhall didn't help!

However. At the start of the fight both fighters looked tight and wound up. Tentative jabs etc. It's just how it went IMO.
Flints got issues with enzo full stop. Digging any deeper is futile. Move on.

Enzo really had a chance if he would have attacked Haye. As it was, he folded basically, only he know's why.

No I got no issues with anyone.

Enzo is just a local fighter - so I took alot of interest in when he fought Haye who I had followed since early in his pro career too and saw the losses to Carl Thompson etc when they happened - and saw his rise back up to win Euro title and to beat Mormeck for the World titles, etc - it was a big event = loved the build up - the fight had been hyped up for the last few years - but it ended on the night a major disappointed because Maccarinelli mentally crumbled - then the body follows the mind - and he physcially got done too.

Haye fresh from a Training Camp in Miami Florida sparring with heavyweights made his way to the Arena in some flash £70,000 Mercedes Jeep with personalised plates driven by Adam Booth.

Maccarinelli fresh from a Training Camp in a cheap old shed in the Welsh valleys - sparring with Bradely Price - made his way to the Arena in a second hand £4000 Vauxhall People Carrier driven and owned by Enzo Calzaghe with W Reg plates.

The signs were there already - that Enzo might of been a bit out of his depth.
