This is puzzling question many boxing fans are asking knowing that Marquez would jump two divisions higher. That's 12 pounds minimum for him to bulk to fight Floyd who's been fighting in the l47. Does he know something we don't know like Roach's saying "Oscar cannot pull the trigger anymore." Does he honestly believe he can win this fight knowing going up two weight divisions will slow him down? Or, Marquez has no choice but to accept this fight no matter if his chance of winning is slim to none because it is his only opportunity to earn the biggest purse in his career.

If Marquez put up a good fight against Floyd, I will give all the props to him but if this turns out to be an easy fight for Floyd, like Jeff M. I will ridicule him.

Your thoughts why he accepted to fight at l47.

He declined to fight at 147 and the fight was nearly off, they agreed to fight at a catchweight of 144.

He is getting old. There's not much big money fights(not that he had one) left for him. Plus this is the only way he can get a rematch with Pac.

Now I'm pulling for JMM. What a move by PBF. Typical.

    What difference does it make?

Mayweather is going to step into the ring around 149lbs.

Marquez is going to step into the ring around 145-146lbs.

    They both aren't welterweights.

Marquez has not accepted to fight at 147 lbs......it looks like its just a misinterpretation by a columnist at "The ring".......no one from either Marquez or Mayweather's camp, or even GBP who is promoting it, have indicated that the fight is at 147 lbs.....

.....it simply looks to be an like a misinterpretation by the columnist at "The Ring"

manly love to his conqueror, pac.

he will follow pac wherever he goes. if he wins this one, then he got more bargaining chips to deal with pac. he better wins, otherwise pac will leave him in the dust.

When the fight to be rumored nearly off because Marquez' team(the ones who asked for it by the way) because they wanted it at a catchweight people were saying Mayweather is ducking Marquez. Now that it's on "What a move by PBF"? :patsch

Who else is there exactly?, Mosley was already called for it in February and turned it down, Cotto is coming off a brutal KO and scheduled to fight Clottey in a fight many see as 50/50 already. Who else?, Berto?

Still need more sites to confirm that, this looks to be opinion more than facts. I never saw in the press conference or anywhere any mention of the fight being at Welter, not even during private interviews.

If people learn to read, the article on ESB's front page is quoting that it got their information from 'The Ring" article.

....again there has not been any indication or direct quote from anyone involved in the promotion that states that the fight will take place at the welterweight limit of 147 lbs.

Even if their was you would expect at least ONE of the journalists interviewing BOTH fighters in over 10 minutes per video clips to at least bring that up once. None brought it up so it looks like things are still as announced and that article is just following rumors.

even if the fight is at a catchweight of 143-144, it is still considered a welterweight fight as the welter class is 141-147. i'm just wondering why up to now there is still no official announcement of what the actual weight will be although the fight itself has already been officially announced.
