Why did Mayorga let Trinidad get free hits in the 1st round?

I don't know about that, but those 2 chunky left hooks from Trinidad definitely changed the tide of the fight. Mayorga was bullying Trinidad around the ring before those 2 shots, he buckled him and he was winning the round. Trinidad was inactive for several years, he couldn't plant his feet on the ground to get the correct balance to land his monstrous punches.

After two light taps, Mayorga tries to test Trinidad's power and allows him to land two very hard left hooks. The second left hook made Mayorga do a dance, guy was seriously trying to play it off. After that, Mayorga was slow, sluggish and became a punching bag throughout the fight. The fight would of been much more interesting if he wasn't a crazy *******.
