Why did Mayweather choose Marquez and not Mosley or Cotto?

I don't think Floyd-Pac needs any more hyping. At this point ALL of the boxing fanatics and regular people who are rubbed the wrong way by Floyd's smug attitude have found a fighter to latch onto.

cause he is p4p #2 or 3 and Floyd believes he can beat him...

We shouldn't be complaining here...some of the boxing world is making JMM to be like Henry Bruseles or something

He chose Marquez because Marquez is similar in size to Pacquia and he also has been the closest fighter Pacquiao has come to defeat, besides, of course, the fight with Erik Morales. Also, if Mayweather beats Marquez convincingly, he will indeed state that Pacquiao couldn't do it and therefore he doesn't need to fight him to prove his P4P status....

As others said- Marquez is the smallest of the 3. Marquez should insist on 135lb to make it a fair fight.

Marquez is p4p no2, on a good run & was the last man to trouble Pacquiao who is p4p no1 & I think Floyd wants Pac in the ring eventually for a p4p mega showdown, beating JMM is a smart route to make this happen because it also eliminates another boxer that wants Pac, if Floyd beats JMM, who will the fans be calling for to fight Pac, JMM or Floyd ?
    Floyd of course.

I think this has to do a lot with bargaining rights, who has the most pull in negotiations. So many good fights could of been made in the past, but, never materialized because of egos getting in the way. Arum and Floyd always had a rift, so a fight with Cotto will probably not happen. But, I also think Floyd is not gonna fight Mosley as a tune up, and not even Cotto as a comeback fight. Too damn early. Marquez is just right. Smaller guy, but, still a big name fighter.

funny how people watched that margarito fight and now mosley is the savior... margarito has absolutely no defense doesnt move his head of course mosley looked tremendous for that fight... mayweather would easily outbox mosley... look how cotto was easily outboxing mosley till he started running out of gas... thats not even a fight that i wanna see... just a waste of time from people that dont understand that styles makes fights... just cuz a beats b doesnt mean that a will beat c because b beat c...

Making Floyd fight at 135 is fair ? :huh

He was a 147 lber for yrs before taking a year & a half out, no way he could make 135 & be anywhere near his best, no way.
