Why did Mayweather initiate so many clinches against Maidana?

The viewing figures in America for wlad's fight were south of half a million. The usual viewing figures for that slot are 1.5 mil

So Germany and Europe will love Mayweather-Maidana, but US, not so much.

    I have to quote Vlad in regards to this;

    "Danger Will Robinson, Danger!"

Clinches prevent headbutts, knees. It doesn't counter takedowns, low blows, rabbit punches.

Because Maidana uses the best soap, always exfoliates and is smooth like a silky purse.

Maidana's wild looping style saw him land the majority of his punches against roped Mayweather as rabbit punches.
Although he throws a lot, He is really one of the most inaccurate punchers you will ever see.

stupid example in a failed attempt to show Pac hate

Marquez was hurt and getting pushed backwards just before he captured that lightening in a bottle

why on earth in that moment did Pac have any reason what so ever to initiate a clench?

Because he was being hit in the body too many times by Maidana and this is one way to stop and reset Maidana's excellent pressure.

Clinching, locking and inside fighting are abilities only of the great fighters, not grabbing, bear-hugging, or leaning weight on the back of your opponent. If you guys think about it, you can see who properly engages and repositions himself to regain an advantage and who simply breaks the whole action. I have never seen Floyd in such a situation where he had to hold on to dear life, when was this? Please let's hear it from you.

    1. He's not an idiot.

    2. Maidana was coming in head first.

    3. That's how you don't get KTFO.

    4. I cant believe this is even a thread. If he has a close fight, he's washed up. If it's a blowout it's boring. If he gets hit, his defense is leaky, if he clinches, he clinches too much.

    LOL

Pacquiao was clinching quite a bit in the Rios fight actually. More than I've ever seen him.

Disengaging a lot, period. Curious how quiet his fan base is about that.

    "He was, uh, boxing smart..."

Oh. So when he does it...

Most fighters get criticized for holding. I don't see why Floyd should be any different.
